Sorry if this is a repeat, but I wonder if anyone would rec. one brand of tub over the other? I have a HB planned but my midwife does not have a tub to rent and so I will need to get one on my own. If money were not an object (which, if there is a huge difference, there might be) which would you choose?

Don't know how to compare, because I haven't used both. . .but I did splurge on a La Basseine for my son's birth last year and loved it. It was so much nicer than the cheap fishy pool I had used for my older son's birth - more comfy (nice amount of air in the bottom and great, tub-like shape), more supportive (really thick, sturdy walls), the handles came in really handy for pushing, a perfect size (big enough to move around in comfortably but not too big to need massive amounts of water), made of non pthalate vinyl (the plasticy smell was there for a while when we first blew it up, but left fairly fast) and last, but not least, really pretty to look at from outside and in (and no garish multi coloured fishies to look at in the birth photos!). I just lent it to a friend for her birth - apparently it had a slow leak but they were able to fix it and use it no problem - it had a second babe born in it, hurray! I thought I might use it later as a kiddie pool, because of the eco plastic and all, but it seems a bit deep for little toddlers to use comfortably. As a birth pool, though, it was perfect. Worth every penny. Good luck with your water birth!

La Bassine
I looooooved my Made In Water tub that I got to borrow for free! It took 4 min to inflate with a coleman quick pump. 12 min to fill when we put a hose faucet on our tub, and 40 min to drain out the door. It was so comfy and sturdy. Here's photos:http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...1&l=520d620e2b
hope that worked!

They have a new "professional" version that is a little tougher and designed for repeat usage for midwives to use for their clients. Both are 100 gallons. Both kinds have disposable liners to make clean-up easier. They all have "made in water" printed on them.
