My 3 yo dd1 has been in the hospital for 2 days because she has a concussion and hasn't been able to eat. The first afternoon, I left while dd1 was napping and brought back dd2, who is 12 mo, so that I could nurse her while attending to dd1. I found out that the hospital doesn't allow any children visitors in the pediatric unit.
I agree that this is a good policy but I'm still having a hard time with it. Both my daughters need me and they can't be in the same place at the same time! My dh has been staying at the hospital with dd1 since I found out I couldn't bring the baby but I seriously think dd1 would get better faster if I were there. She is being so difficult and they can't get her to cooperate and I COULD if I were there.
We live 20 min away from the hospital, have only 1 car and also have a 5 yr old. It is not very practical for me to go there more than once or twice a day.
Anyway, I am feeling so desperate that I'm trying to figure out if dd2 would be okay without nursing so often. She eats 3 meals of solid foods a day but won't drink milk. She usually nurses about 4 times during the day and 2 times at night.
Sorry if I sound scatter-brained. Anybody have suggestions for me? Or experience with parent-led weaning (I really am just thinking about partial weaning)? Input of any kind would be great.
