My daughter rolled over for the first time around 3 months, and started doing it constantly right around 4 months. Every time she was on her back, she'd flip over to her stomach. About 1.5-2 weeks ago, she just stopped! She has only rolled over 2 or 3 times in all of that time (she is almost 6 months now.) Sometimes she is fussy when going to sleep, and if I flip her on her tummy, she goes right to sleep--she used to just roll on her tummy if that's the way she wanted to sleep. Is it typical for a baby to spend 6 weeks rolling everywhere and then just stop?
I thought perhaps it was that she has new toys to hold so she doesn't 'need' to roll over to look at other things, but when she drops her toys, she doesn't flip over and try to get them the way she did a few weeks ago...she just fusses, looks at them, and seems helpless.
She's also had a weird twitching spell the other night, which was so strange that my sister and I contemplated taking her to the ER (my husband is not here right now but was disturbed by my description over the phone, and he is in the medical field.) Also, she has started throwing herself backwards when I'm holding her, the way she used to do when she was a newborn...but when she does it, she gets upset, as if it was involuntary.
I am thinking of making her a pediatric appointment, but I do not trust her doctor (we are military and are forced to see the horrible docs at the Navy clinic) and also, we are about to temporarily move to another city (2 months) and we will not have a ped there. So if I want to take her to the doc, I have to take her today, tom, or Wednesday...and will expose her to lots of germs by going, of course.
Has anyone else experienced this? I don't want to be overreactive, but nor do I want to ignore a problem.
