So I went to my doctors appointment today but he was at the hospital with two women in labor. The nurse asked if I had been having any contractions or anything, I told her no just period like cramps nothing serious. She decided to hook me up to the monitor just to be safe since I was there anyway. Turns out I was having contractions about every 7 min, the numbers on the machine were going up into the 70s and I honestly didn't feel all that much. The nurse said I should be feeling them at that point. So she sent me to the hospital so the doctor could check me, they hooked me up to the machine again and the contractions were 3 to 5 min apart, he checked me and I was 2cm and 40% effaced. They had me walk, put me back on the monitor, contractions were still around 5 min apart, I still wasn't feeling them and I was still at 2cm, so they said I could go home. I have a normal appointment with the doctor tomorrow. Is it normal not to feel the contractions this early in the process? The nurse told me that usually by the time the numbers are in the 30s people really feel them. Anyone have anything similar happen? I want to get excited thinking something might happen but I dont want to get my hopes up!!

I do not really feel them until close to transition.... with Ds1 I had one hour of active labor and that was it I did not feel the other contractions with this little peanut I really did not feel them until transition (and my transition was longer this time around than with Ds1) also but was waiting for them since my water broke if it hadn't I would have slept through them until active labor/transition but the excitement took over
my point is it is 100% possible as it happened to me more than once! good luck I hope you are holding that little one really soon!

I would agree with this...that's the danger, I think of focusing on the machine that goes ping. With my dd I never really found ctx all that painful per se...I knew that they were there, but it wasn't really until transition that I really noticed them.
