My hubby and I have 3 young boys. We live in Arizona now. My sister lives in the central valley in Atenas. I love the central valley but I want to explore other areas. Any tips and advise would be great. We are going back in a month and moving this summer. Here is what we want...

Access to farmers markets
good schools
would like areas with other americans
homes with land so we can garden
need internet access

We don't like Jaco beach or hermosa area.

I think for the good schools you want to either be in Escazu, Santa Ana Or over in Heredia.

Everywhere else you'll find the other stuff on your list.

San Isidro area... (Perez Zeledon)
San Gerardo, Chimirol de Rivas, San Isidro, Quebradas, Pedigroso...

Nice weather
Big farmers market
Good people, lots of kids
Less crime and drugs than in beach areas

I'm pretty familiar with the Central Plateau area, as I have family there and visit often. I don't know much about P.Z., but isn't Escazu not too far off? My understanding is that Escazu is a bit more liberal, open-minded, etc. than many other parts. Not sure if that is important to you or not, but I thought I'd throw it out there!

Good Luck!
