Ok....so I got a Nook for Christmas......I demoed one at my local B&N. I love how it navigates, the response time is great, it downloads super fast......I'm going to love it.....when I get it....I still have to wait until the middle of January to get it...

But...I'm soooo excited and I loved the one at B&N...so I think I am really going to love my own. Meanwhile I've been shopping for accessories

Thank you Thank you Thank you for all of your replies and help. You guys are great.

I got a Kindle for Christmas too! OMG, I love it. It's really transparent -- actually less intrusive in the reading experience than an actual book. I have a New Yorker subscription on it, I have bought a bunch of $20 ish new harcovers for $10 each, and there are also a lot of well-formatted classics for around a dollar (you can get tons of free books too, but they often don't have active contents tables and are full of typos). I can carry along all this in my handbag and NEVER run out of things to read!

I will never stop reading physical books (for one thing, there's still a ton unavailable for ereaders; for another, I'm not taking a $259 device to the beach with me!) but I was a real ereader skeptic, and yet I am totally in love with mine. I will feel differently if the battery bites the dust and I have to buy another one, of course ...

I love my kindle!

I got a nook for x-mas and received it just after New Years. I have to say I haven't seen any of the performance problems that the NYT reviewer complains about...maybe there have been software updates since that review. The page turn delay seem comparable to the kindles I've seen. I really like the touch screen for navigation and love the way that it goes to sleep much faster than the "book" part and then can be used to turn pages instead of pressing the buttons, which is surprisingly useful. So in my short time of using it I'm completely satisfied. I'm sure the kindle is just as good, but the battery being non-replacable really turned me off, I've had some bad luck with re-chargable batteries dying on me, so I like being able to replace just the battery.

Ok...so......I got a Nook and it came today.

AND..............

I love it.

I love it so much....I am so glad I got it. It's quick and sleek. It's easy to use and it downloads in seconds. There is a whole board that B&N has just for Nook owners. It has an MP3 player, has WiFi and even though it doesn't have the text to speech feature of the Kindle....I am really happy about being able to replace the battery once it can't be recharged anymore. I love all the different accessories that are and will be available. I also can add more storage space to the device as well, I can also dump my files on to my laptop to make more space if I need to. I did order a cover for it before the Nook came and it looks great.

I think the Nook and I are a perfect fit. I am really excited.
