So I saw http://www.mothering.com/discussions...ight=amby+baby in the nighttime parenting section and after reading the information available, I am unnerved. My baby doesn't sleep in her Amby all the time, but she does sometimes. I'm conflicted because after reading some of the posts about the baby rolling to one side or the baby's head being below her feet, it seems that there is definitely some misuse of the bed. It is easy to tie the bed to make the head end higher and also to balance out problems to prevent rolling in little babies. The problem I am having is the fact that their American website, emails and phone numbers are all down. That does not inspire confidence.
The Australian site is now recommending removing the mattress after four months of age because it is harder for stronger, older babies to roll in the hammock without the mattress. It also has an "Important Notice" on its mainpage with a list of "product enhancements" I just don't know whether the bed is safe. I sent a very long e-mail to the Australian Amby Baby and am waiting for a reply. I don't want to call because I feel like verbally you may not get to the truth, but in writing they will be more likely to give the whole story. Anyone out there with an Amby? What will you be doing about this situation? If you can, please e-mail the company through their other websites. Perhaps if they are bombarded with e-mails they will provide more info.
The e-mail is amby@babyhammocks.com
As a side note: When I clicked on the e-mail on the Australian site, the link says amby@babyhammocks.com but once I click the email inserted in the "to box" is ahooi@bigpond.net.au. See? Isn't that odd? The company is behaving in a very odd manner. I sent my e-mail to both addresses to be on the safe side.
