Ideas:
Salt dough cut outs which can be painted. Or I used cinnamon in the dough and when it baked it looked like gingerbread and smelled good.
Decorated pinecones with glitter and ribbons or raffia.
Dehydrated oranges, lemons and limes. Or use cinnamon sticks, walnut shells, cranberries, popcorn. Fabric sachets filled with cloves or potpourri. All of these can be used alone or in combination and tied with ribbon.
Cut out the cups in a cardboard egg carton. These can be recylced with decopage or paint into bells or other creations.
Real tree branches (small and cut up) with bark and moss can be used to make small "yule logs" for ornaments.
Sticks crossed like an X and wrapped with yarn into a "gods eye" solar symbol for Solstice. Or crossed like a like a Cristian cross with just a bit of yarn for Cristmas.
Paper can be used for snowflake cut outs.
Hope this helps!
