Weird bone/bone broth question

Thread Starter
I was wondering if it's ok to eat the bones after making bone broth? I don't have any books yet as I'm waiting for the library on them. I don't know why but I really like the crumbly texture the bones have after they've made my broth and I don't know much about eating bones in general

Thanks!

I think if it's a pastured animal it's probably ok, seems to me that whatever is in the bones is in the broth & you are already consuming it... I've never read anything about it though.

You can buy powderd bonemeal as a supplement--I think it's really good for calcium and maybe other minerals?

I don't see why not. Sounds quite 'traditional' to me!

I would post this in the allergies forum--they might have some info for you--I can recall there being posts about bonemeal. (I think there was worry about *something* not good being in *some* bonemeal brands--not sure if it was an additive or naturally occuring in the bones... I can't remember a single detail about it though )

This thread made me giggle a little. For some reason, DD is on a Shrek kick - and I thought you can grind the bones to make your bread! (like a giant!). I have no idea if that's possible, but it's the first thing that popped in my head!
