A pro-vax screamed at me help

The place I work had a doctor come in to give info about swine flu. It was very one sided - vax are all safe etc.
. I told her a disagreed I have researched this topic and know a decent amount I made a lot of good points- and stayed calm- while she just lost her composure. She told me people like me are paranoid and ignorant etc. Please help- what is the one question or point I can make to pro-vax people ?

wow! i really don't have a good question in response to your request, but I would ask her why she was lacking such confidence in her "pro-vax" stance that she had to become defensive and start calling names when it clearly wasn't warranted.

"My body. My choice. Take your big pharmaceutical sales pitch somewhere else."
Maybe you should approach it from a social responsibility standpoint and consider her pov (not mine) that if you don't get the vax you're a potential carrier and could pass it to everybody in the office to take home to their kids. ell her that you're aware of the potential for a widespread pandemic, but that if 2/3 of the herd, er. I mean population, is vaccanated then it will be nipped in the bud.
With the economy in the toilet and the country still at war people want to control at least one of the risks in their lives. While you know and I know that volenteering to be a lab rat for them to PRACTICE medicine on won't automatically save us, just know you're not arguing the facts about vax, they're grasping at straws to "control" some of the danger as we sit here watching the big dangerous changes going on right now. Probably more people died or ended up brain dead this month from car crashes than H1N1 and the measels combined. But we're not launching a national campaign to start riding bicycles to work. Oh no. The big pharmeceutical companies would squash that movement with a quickness. Crap. No more second cups of coffee for me. Lemme get off my soapbox and let somebody with some real facts answer the quiestion.

Sorry, lemme clear that up. I was saying that the reason she's being so unreasonable any why all your valuable research was wasted on her was that the benefits of vaccinating are for the population as a whole. The tragedies from vaccination occur to individual people only. That's why she won't listen.

I like the argument that the H1N1 virus is proving to be very mild and is already declining in the US.

I also like the argument that the Dutch scientists have presented, about skipping the seasonal flu shot so that kids can gain some immunity from future pandemics.

Also doctors in NYC are reporting declines due to the virus having spread through the population last spring, proving that herd immunity works without a vaccine.

This is truly tragic. DO NOT click on this link. You will be sad that you did. I cried a couple real tears. Dh is not a crier. He let a real tear out. My grandma e-mailed me this, saying "WOW!!!! Had planned to get a flu shot, now wonder if I want to take a chance on being that one in a million…….."
She IS NOT anti-vax. I don't have the balls to tell her I didn't vax ds. This link is to a Florida news story of a flu vax tragedy. E-mail it to the lady in your office if she keeps pressing the point.

Seriously, this link will ruin part of your day.

Luckily now she saw the right doctor to treat her. She is recovering now!
