DS (will be 1 year old next week) has food sensitivity reactions (no known IgE though) that we are addressing. He has shown very clear interest in wanting to eat our food since 6 months. I started to offer him, but soon stopped because I learned that for decreasing allergy risk, one idea is to not allow solids until at least 1 year old. It breaks my heart because this past month, he has been more intensely reaching his hands to our plates and smacking his lips every time he sees us eating.
We're almost at baseline (I think) but still working out the last kinks in the food sensitivity reactions. I am ambivalent about introducing solids. I want to offer solids because DS obviously wants it, but on the other hand I want to really make sure we hit baseline and more importantly, stay there (instead of always getting yet another food reaction). So even though DS's b-day is coming up, I'm not sure I want to offer solids just yet until I feel safe to do so.
How long can a baby be ebf or when is the latest we can wait before needing to start introducing solids?
Should I offer him solids already since he really wants it so much?
