I've been babywearing for almost 6 years now through 2 kids and one on the way waiting to be worn
I have quite a variety of slings and have used them all for different purposes.
My BIL/SIL are pretty crunchy leaning and are registered at very mainstream stores, so are unlikely to receive a sling as a gift. They are due in Februrary. For Christmas, we've all agreed to just exchange gifts for the kids, but their "kid" obviously hasn't arrived yet, so we were going to get them an extra baby gift (we're making up a BFing basket of BFing friendly items and books for them for her shower since SIL is definitely planning on nursing).
I was going to buy a plain old maya since that was what i preferred nursing in most of the time. Infinitely adjustable, and I felt pretty good when NIP in those early weeks when I was BFing my first and still a little shy, kwim?
Looking at the site, it looks like most of the Mayas now are padded. Any feedback on these? Does anyone have another ring sling brand recommendation (looked at Zolos but they are IMO kinda expensive for a ring sling)? I haven't looked at ring slings in 6 years, kwim?
We're thinking of getting them an Ergo once the baby arrives, but thought a ring sling would be nice especially in the beginning. Even w/ lots of babywearing experience I never totally loved my Moby (I'm short and I think it was just too much fabric), and I think they can be a little intimidating to set up for someone new to babywearing and not connected with LLL or a babywearing group.
what would you buy?
