This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for:
the generosity of my friends and family, who welcomed Nate into the world so warmly and with so much love
the roof over our heads and the food on our table, which DP and I have worked hard to provide
the stable jobs which have allowed us to provide said roof and food!
the midwives, doctors, and nurses who ushered Nate into the world. Not how I wanted it, or planned it, but in the way that kept us both safe
the power and strength of my own body, to nourish and grow this tiny person inside myself, and now to give him the milk and comfort and protection that he needs on the outside
the love of DP, who even in our moments of tired frustration is a loving and devoted father to Nate, and a caring partner to me
the sweet face of my newborn son, his tiny hands, his bright eyes, his fluffy hair, his soft skin, his breath, his soft (and not so soft!) noises, his smooth feet, and the wonderful weight of his little body in my arms. I have never before had such a gift, and I am so incredibly grateful that he is here, he is ours, and he is healthy
and also,
this community, which helped me feel not-crazy when I was certain that I was going crazy, kept me laughing in the long days of swollen feet and elevating blood pressure, cheered me on on dark days, provided me with priceless advice and reassurance, and always let me know I was not alone. I am glad to have had you all with me as we grew and birthed our beautiful babies. Thank you Mamas!
