"pull-up" idea. need input

I've got a 5 yr old who still wets at night. I've been using pull-up as nighttime protection, but would love to do something washable.
If I made fleece soakers, with Katrina's pattern, and added a pocket of something like flannel, that I could put a prefold or other doubler in, do you think it would work?

I'd think it would be worth a shot. The only downside that I can think of is that it might be tricky to stuff maybe (because it wouldn't be flat like pocket diapers are when you stuff them). I have used a Katrina pattern soaker with a "trifolded" flat for night- it worked well but was a PITA to put on. With a pocket, you'd solve that problem! You could make the opening in the front- might make it easier to stuff.

But it sounds like a great idea- if I could sew, I'd consider trying it out myself!
