i feel so broken i called around to a unch of midwifes today trying to find someone who would take me at 40+weeks and not have to be induced i talked to one very sweet lady for about an hr who cant take me as she is realy busy but she has personal experience with my ob and has told me some pretty horrid things
like the fat he pushes pit to induce and then section that i will be strapped t a bed for the whole labor and not be listen to as he is the doc and in his words i am just the dumb woman who knew what i was getting into when i got preg
and he has said things like this to me at apmts when i complained about things hurting oh you did this to yourself \
i dont know what to do we can not afford to birth in a birth center
there just isnt any $
i dont think i can do another induced labor it was so horrid with my first
ive been sobbing ever sence i woke up not in labor

Oh, mama!!! I'm so sorry. What would happen if you just didn't go to your appt. and/or hospital? Then he can't induce, right?

DDC crashing!

Okay, you know what I would do, since right now, you're in an emotional 40 plus week pregnant state and feel bloody awful and want everything to go as planned?

I would ask a midwife, any midwife, with a doppler (perhaps the nice lady you spoke to?) to at least monitor your baby. They don't have to be there during birthing - but, perhaps, for your peace of mind, come over - or you to them - and monitor you for say, fifteen minutes or so, every other day. Offer perhaps to pay them in kind for this, if you have no money.

Then secondly, don't go to your appointment if you are scared - at least not with your current OB. Are there other OB's in the same practice? If so, make an appointment with a different OB and if asked why, let them know that it's because you just don't feel comfortable in your present situation.

Then, relax, and keep an eye on babe's movements, and simply wait to go into labor. You're two days past your due date - there's no need to be induced Right. This. Second. You've got a couple of weeks at least, in which to hang around. Don't be bullied! This is YOUR body and YOUR baby and you can make empowered decisions for yourself. You can do it!

I think panicking is not going to help baby come sooner, because all the research seems to indicate that if you feel under threat from something, labor can actually stall. So the hypothesis here is to just make you as relaxed as possible, and then baby will indeed come out.

*HUGE hugs* - I know sometimes, things are easier said than done. But I think you can do it Xxx

DDC crashing.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with such an ignorant health care provider. Will your insurance not cover a birth center? We had to pay out of pocket for our homebirth. The money was certainly not easy to come by. We had to cash out some retirement money and then will end up paying the fine and tax on top of that. We figure it's worth it though. It's stressful when you feel you can't birth the way you want. I am hoping everything works out for you and you go into labor on your own soon.

ETA: I agree with the others about just flat out refusing the induction or not showing up.

the lady i spoke with is extreamly busy and has her 2 grand babys with her for the holidays or she said she would do hatever she could to help but shes so busy and cant
post #6 of 20
I would definitely refuse the induction and just not show up for it until your at least 2 weeks over. Especially with a provider that acts like that! Its your body and he can't force you to do anything you don't want to. Is there anyone else in is practice you can see? What about just waiting and going to a different hospital when you actually go into labor? The hospital can't refuse you, and if your doctor isn't affiliate with it then you won't even have to worry about him being around!

I know you are frustrated and are anxious to meet your baby. But didn't you say in your last post that you begged the OB to set an induction date for Tuesday, December 1 and that you were so done being pregnant? It didn't sound like he was the one pushing induction. You know you can always refuse induction. You also have six days to go into labor on your own before the induction date that you set with your OB. If you haven't gone into labor by next week then tell the OB you changed your mind on the induction.

yes i did want an induction but NOT pit and the ob wont try anything but
post #9 of 20
Oh Mama, refuse induction with pit. Don't go to your last two appointments, trust your body. You will do fine.

Oh, poor you!

I did not follow your story completely, but have you tried acupressure (I have a pdf with some basic instructions on my computer)? You can even do this yourself. And what about black/blue cohosh, evening primrose oil, Sex, nipple stimulation, walking?

Also, do you know about the Bishop's score to evaluate how successful pitocin would be?

Tell your OB you do not consent to pit. End of story. If that means no induction then there's no induction.

Also, if you get to 42w and do consent to induction, then read the orders before you allow the IV. If the orders say anything other than what you and he have agreed to, or the nurses won't show them to you, then don't allow the induction and be prepared to walk out of the hospital. (this is something I REALLY regret not doing for my first labor; dr agreed to low dose just to get me to consent and then did pit to distress despite that.) If he changes the orders w/the nurses after you get what you want and pit is started, then decline any increase in pit every time someone reaches for that pit bag. Just say no. They can't increase the pit, if you tell them you won't consent to it. They will have to call the dr and this forces him to talk to you rather than talking through the nurse. However, if he's as ignorant as he sounds, you may not want to have to argue with him in labor.

You also have the option of firing your dr and just showing up in labor to get who ever is on call.

In the meantime, have you tried acupuncture to get labor started? I was about to do acupuncture and spent the day talking to the baby to let him know he could come anytime and that I didn't really want to do the acupuncture, and he ended up coming that night. Coincidence probably, but you never know.

I'm hoping you go into labor all on your own VERY soon.

i cant afford t get acupuncture
im takeing the big guns again tonight more castrol oil my DH is going to sweep the crap out of me i dont even care if his kills thanksgiving i am not going to let them pit me

DDC crashing -

I'm sorry,I don't understand why the big guns have to come out tonight. The induction is scheduled for next week right? And you can cancel if you want. Nobody is going to pit you if you just don't go into the hospital until you are in hard labor.

Castor oil and your DH sweeping you seem like a recipe for disaster if your body isn't ready to go into labor yet. You are only 2 days past your EDD. Enjoy your Thanksgiving and let the baby come when it is ready.

peace

How many weeks/days gestation were you with your first two kids? I think you have a good chance of going into spontaneous labor on your own (assuming you don't normally go to 42 weeks or something).

It sounds like everything is getting ready

Here is the pdf regarding acupressure points, you can do this yourself, or ask your husband for help:

ohh shakenbake--HUGS! Some mamas (like myself!) just seem to take longer to make babies, yk? I totally understand about money issues compromising the kind of care you want too it really sucks. whatever you do, DON"T allow yourself to get scared or bullied by the hospital or docs. If you don't want pit, then they can't MAKE you get pit. ACOG guidelines (i.e. the hospital's own, that they are required to follow) say that there is NO medical reason for induction until you're PAST 42 weeks. If you have insurance and have been getting care there already, there's no reason why they should refuse doing non-stress tests on you and baby every few days, and leaving you the heck alone til you're 42 weeks by their calculated EDD.

hang in there mama--sending you love and labor vibes!
