Amber Teething Necklace - Adverse Reaction? (x-post in Life With a Babe)

Is that even possible? Finally got one from Inspired by Finn and I swear my 5.5 month old is way fussier than normal since (the past two days), not sleeping as well, etc. Thoughts?

Just bumping in case anyone can help - totally flabbergasted with this one!

Maybe he just doesn't like things around his neck? I hate it... I never wear necklaces for that reason.

I guess but then wouldn't he be fussing with it, pulling at it, fidgeting, etc? He didn't seem to really notice it was there/be fazed by it. Thanks for the idea though!

Recently mymom has really gotten into gems and stones. She got me a pile to pick from and wear. My pendulum guided me to two. As the days wore on I really felt irritable and on edge. I stopped wearing those particular ones.
I didn't expect that especially since my pendulum guided me, but there you go. MAybe it was more of a healing crisis rather than a negTive response.

In my experience, when you have a negative reaction to crystals/stones/gems to which you're drawn in some way (or acquired for "treating" a condition as OP describes), the problem is more that the stones need to be cleansed. This can be done any number of ways, including but not limited to: smudging, moon bathing (put in salt water left in the light of the full moon), salt cleansing (cover with salt and allow to sit overnight or longer). I can't think of any others off the top of my head but these are the ones I use regularly.
HTH.

PS.
I *always* cleanse any stones which are "new" to me before using them. You never know where they've been or what they may have "picked up". This is a type of "energy medicine".

If cleansing doesn't work, it should be noted that some people are "supersensitive" to gemology and it's recommended that the stones not be touching the skin of these people.
If amber doesn't help, you may consider getting something made of coral instead. Remember, this doesn't necessarily have to be given *to* the child and doesn't *have* to be touching their skin. It could simply be kept in their bassinet/crib or a pocket (assuming they're too young to dig in the pocket and get it out to mouth).

Interesting, thanks. Guessing it might be the supersensitive issue, given that DS (like me) already seems hypersensitive to other stuff - like homeopathy, etc. So maybe try keeping the amber necklace in his pants pocket today?

yes, and if that's still too much, you can try "diffusing" the energy by wrapping it in a silk kerchief. I don't remember why but silk is the most effective at lessening the effect of stones without changing the energy.

It's possible that its something else too....try with no contact for a day or 2 or 3 and then start back again and see what happens.

I did but same thing happened.

So other suggestions? Worth trying hazelwood or something or is he likely over sensitive to ALL gems?

Thanks again!

Hazelwood's not a gem. Entirely different.
I'd say it's worth a shot.
And did you try cleansing the necklace with salt as described above?

Yup - had tried the salt cleansing. OK so he'd be less likely to react negatively to Hazelwood? will have to save some more funds...

I don't know how he'd react to hazelwood. I've never tried it but I do know a couple of people who have used it very successfully when amber has failed.

Thanks - so is it also a type of energy healing/medicine or a different category really?

*I* would class it differently, more along the lines of herbalism or some strange in-between area, mostly based on the fact that Medicine People suggested their use.

Thanks - still thinking about hazelwood and debating whether it is worth a try/likely to help (funds very tight right now). Given that one of his symptoms is TONS of drool (like a faucet practically), might that help match his symptoms?
