Cruncy sweet potato topping without nuts or marshmallows?

In the past, I've done the marshmallow topped sweet potatoes and the brown sugar/pecan topped sweet potatoes.

But, this year, I have someone who is allergic to nuts and my kids don't like marshmallows.

But, everyone loves the crunchy topping on top of the sweet potato casserole.

So, any suggestions for a crunchy topping that doesn't have nuts or marshmallows?

I use a mix of weetbix, brown sugar, dessicated coconut (you could leave this out) and melted butter as a sweet crumble topping. It goes nice an crunchy when baked.

ARG! I just talked to my sis who is the one allergic to nuts and she's also allergic to coconut!

None of these are serious allergies - just itcy mouth but still......

Oh and on the nuts - it's only pecans, walnuts and almonds - other nuts are ok.

What if you did a brown sugar, butter, and rolled oats topping--like a streusel-type thing?

Even if it's only itchy mouth, anytime you have an allergy it can just all of a sudden be life threatening I think...not sure...so it's best not to continue exposure to things that are known allergens if possible.

I totally agree which is why I'm not even chancing it.

It's funny - I'm 40 and she's 42 and I'm just now finding out about all these allergies - pecans, walnuts, coconut and banana.....

It's a little late but for the ones look at this for Christmas I use butter, rolled oat and Maple syrup or Maple sugar - bake it low and slow on a cookie sheet (like granola) and then top sweet potatos or dry type squash with it - drizzele with a little extra melted butter part way through cooking.
