I have a sneaking suspicion... (update... YEAH!)

...that DH bought me some Qiviut yarn for Christmas.

He told me that my present was small and expensive (for us ) and that I'd be a little bit scared of it. I opened our PO box (no mail delivery here) yesterday and there was a mystery polymailer with two lumps of something that felt suspiciously like balls of yarn in it. I didn't look at the return address because... I'm too well-behaved.

But what the heck am I going to do with it, if that is what it is? I don't usually knit with such luxe items.

Update... yeah, he got me the hat kit from the Oomingmak Co-op.

Is it made of unicorn fur or something? I have never heard of Qiviut yarn. Maybe I should not investigate

Oh, my. That is a serious problem. I'd be happy to help - I'll knit it for you!
What a wonderful DH!!

Krisis - here is an example of quiviut -

The Yarn Harlot made an exquisite cowl with hers - I am not up to this, but it would definitely be worthy of such a yarn!

Checking Ravelry, it looks like a lot of cowls, scarves, hats and a few armwarmers and shawlettes.

Qiviut

It's sooooooo soft and warm. Whatever I make with it (if it is what he's gotten me ), I'm going to have to do a trial run with something cheaper first.

First of all, holy alfredo that's expensive! Second, I WANT SOME.

But DH is still freaking over the price.

Yeah, hence me being all excited and scared.

I'm buying him a really sweet brew kettle (he's a homebrewer), so we're both all about the small-but-expensive gifts this year.

Watch, it was totally something else and I'll be coming back here with my tail between my legs...

Hehe, you'll have to let us know for sure and then post a picture when you knit whatever you decide to make with it!

There's a forum for it on Ravelry!
