My DD is only 6 months, but I have been a nanny for several years and am familiar with the 'get dressed' battle. I was homeschooled for most of my school years, and my mom was never into making every day Saturday. Every day, even if we weren't going somewhere, mom woke us up at 8 am. We always ate breakfast, got dressed. I feel like I can't begin my day, even if I'm doing nothing at all, until I'm 'ready'. If I don't get up, brush my teeth, wash my face, brush my hair, put on deoderant, get dressed, put on earrings, etc etc, I feel sluggish and lazy all day. Any way, with nanny kids, I always implemented a morning rhythm. We did the same things, in the same order, and the same way, every morning. I also give five minute warnings...for example, one set of brothers watched a show while they ate breakfast. They usually finished breakfast before the show was over. So, I'd say they could finish the show, then it would be time to get dressed. In short, we had the same routine every morning, whether or not we were going any where.
