Is it weird that my BG 3.0s are opened to the highest rise on a 5 1/2 mo old?

Okay, maybe the title says it all. But really. Lately the middle rise/snap seemed to be too small for DD, and was very tight around her thighs. So I just tried the dipe opened all the way, and it fits better, with a slight wing droop. I think it's better, but it seems SO early to have the dipe all the way extended. Granted, they're much easier to stuff without having to snap anything. But still...any thoughts? thanks

How much does she weigh? I opened our BGOS to the highest rise around that age too, I did feel like it would fit for a long time still though and as ds got more mobile right around 6 months his thighs got a LOT smaller. I feel like there is a ton of room to grow on that highest rise but the middle one is still a little too snug

She was 15 lbs 13 oz at her last ped appt...around 4 1/2 months...so maybe 16 pounds now? I haven't weighed her lately...

if they aren't leaking I think you're fine. Every baby is built so different. Do you feel like they'll fit for a while still?

Yes, I think they'll still fit for a while. But I just don't know how long. This is my first baby, and she outgrows clothes so quickly, so I wasn't sure about the dipes. I was really shocked when we had to go up one level to the middle snaps because she seemed so little. With the dipe wide open, the wings droop a bit, so I guess that means it has room to grow. I'm babbling now. I'm so tired. Thanks for the help.

I heard of that happening. One mom said that happened, and then when the baby got older she had to put it down to the middle rise again.

My son is 4 months and we are pretty much on the unsnapped rise of our gro baby diapers. He's outgrown his cloths really fast too. I asked some people about it on the cloth diapering LJ and they said that it happens and that a lot of their kids still fit them at a year and at 2 years.
Here's a good quote "They generally lose the baby squish when they start crawling and walking. As a boy gets older the rise is less important overall. My first son was in medium diapers until he potty trained even though he had gained weight. It's just overall it's not as important. Shape changes as they age as well."

So I'll assume that it should work until they are potty trained. At least I really hope so for the both of us. I really don't want to have to get new diapers. I had planned on prefolds if I need to though.

I agree with blueone. My ds2 is "squishy" right now at about 14 weeks, and he's only about one setting different (on our one size dipes) from my 2.5 yo ds1...

It's true that the body shape just changes, so you will probably find they fit for quite a long time!

every baby is different in size, shape, weight. It is normal to yield many different responses to a pattern.

Your baby is still in a stage that the girth is going to reflect the most focus on growth and adjustment in the diaper will reflect around that for now. As the baby gets older the shape will change and the diaper will most likely reflect a different focus on the fit.

sounds normal to me.
