Posterior Cervix

I meant to ask this the other day. My doctor told me my cervix is still posterior and needs to move before I can go into labor. I'm 2cm and 30-40% effaced, plus I've been having contractions pretty much all day but usually at least 10 min apart. How long does it take for the cervix to move? Does it happen fairly quickly or is it one of those it depends things?

Poppycock. My cervix doesn't become reachable (i.e. move forward) until I'm IN labour. I've given birth twice with the same experience. Both labours were 4.5 hrs start to finish.

Mine was so posterior before labor it could not be found by my DH (who found it easily in my prior pregnancy). The midwife said it was still very posterior uneffaced and only a fingertip after my water broke but she was born 11 hrs later. Actual labor was 5.5hrs.

So glad to hear that! I was trying to google it but was having a hard time getting any information. It sounded a little silly to me!
