Anyone who had a baby turn vertex after being breech at 34 weeks on?

I need some positivity and I thought just hearing that it does happen would help. This is my second baby and it has been breech or transverse pretty consistently. I am at 34 weeks now and feeling pretty down about it. I'm not sure about my homebirth now, although at this point my only other alternative is a c-section. I just feel like the rug got ripped out from underneath me and I am starting to get pretty depressed about it. I know babies can and do flip later than this, it just seems so unlikely to me. I'm doing hypnobabies turn baby turn everday as well as inversions, stretches, etc etc. It just isn't working. So anyone have a positive breech turning story to share?

Mine was breech at 35 weeks, and turned at 36 weeks. Made it to our homebirth! What did it was a chiropractor trained in the Webster technique. He just pushed in a specific spot to loosen a ligament in the lower part of the uterus, then baby wiggled bunches for a few hours, and turned! Also on my list of things to try was acupuncture w/ moxibustion, and Mayan abdominal massage, but didn't get to either of those.

My DD turned at 34 weeks. I'd definitely recommend finding a chiro who knows the webster technique, as well as doing all the stuff on spinningbabies.com. As a last result, can you have an external version done? Good luck! Lots of babies DO turn!

My babe turned at 37 weeks, after a nice little nervous waiting period. I was so afraid I wasn't going to be able to have my homebirth. I tried all the positions on the spinning babies website, and I also started taking pulsatilla, which was recommended by my midwife and chiropractor. Whether it was just time, or those methods worked, she finally turned.

Mine turned breech to vertex the night before she was born. (39 weeks).

My youngest was all over the place even at 40 weeks. Midwives thought he was breech by manual palpations. On an u/s he was transverse, but ten minutes later had flipped vertex.

34 weeks is too early to freak out. Plenty of time yet for that baby to turn. See spinningbabies.com for ways to encourage him to turn.

Even if you choose to have a cesarean for position, it is still beneficial to baby to wait until the onset of labor for the surgery. This enables baby to be ready, to receive the benefits of some labor which will in turn help the transition to extrauterine life. By waiting you could see baby turn, as well.

Has your baby ever been head down? The fact that your baby is transverse sometimes indicates that baby could be trying to turn - is there an issue with cord or placenta?

I have had one baby that stayed transverse (very evident) until the night before she was born vertex and one that was breech until 39 wks and was born vertex. Both turned when they were ready with no assistance from me.

My baby was breech at 33 weeks and I started having Webster Technique, but at 34 weeks my membranes ruptured. Even though I had a hostile birthing environment, I refused a c-section (they do need your consent to put you out and cut you open). It was a hard thing to do but I'm so glad I did.

What brought me peace was knowing that sometimes babies are breech for good reason. Sometimes they need to be, and they know it.

My 9.5lb baby was breech at 38 and 39 weeks. I went to a chiropractor for the Webster technique and it worked! Had a wonderful head down birth. Hope that gives you hope. I would highly recommend webster. You can find a chiro certified in webster in your area at www.icpa4kids.com .

My youngest sister (youngest of 5 of us) was transverse until about 15 min before she was born. My mom had been in labor at the hospital for hours. Her doc said she had until 6pm before they would need to do a csection (water had been broken for 24 hrs- this was early 80s). She turned and was born at 545pm.

Good luck.

I just had my first baby at home last week at 38 weeks. She didn't turn head down and stay put until 36 weeks and was birthed at home. I was worried too. Turns out I just had a lot of water for her to maneuver in.

yes. three of five of my babies turned after 34 weeks.

The first was 39weeks, second at 24, third at 36, fourth at 34 and fifth at 38weeks. I am 5'2 and all babies have been 8-9lbs and at longer then average.

I was told by my OB the first time that there was going to be no turning (he was a wedged low footling breech and I was "too small". Never underestimate a stubborn mama. No I had no medical intervention to turn any of them. I simply practiced OFP and slant boarded as well as massaged them into place and spoke to them.

add my DS was breech until 35 weeks (turned with the help of my chiropractor)

My first flip flopped till about 37 weeks, right before I went in for an external version.
My second didn't settle till around 35/36 weeks. And when she did, she didn't move her head at all!

Mine isn't positive, but I had one baby turn from vertex to breech during labour at 38w, 5d. My next flipped breech sometime between 38 and 39 weeks. Both those babies were consistently vertex at all checkups for the preceeding couple of months.

Actually, I'd forgotten, because I had a c-section scheduled, anyway, but dd2 was transverse and breech at various times during my last two months...but she was vertex when she arrived at 39w, 5d.

Yeah that!

I did have a friend who was told she had to have c-sec. No one would deliver her baby. So she consented, but insisted that they let her go in to labour naturally and that she would call them as soon as she was labouring. She did, and then just before they gave her the epi, they did a US and yup...you guessed it, baby had flipped! So no c-sec!

But I love the idea, that even if a c-sec is the only option, that if it is medically safe to do so, the baby still picks its birthday and decides when it is the safest time for it to come out.

All the best to you mama.

Thanks for all the stories! Baby is still sitting breech...I can't recall a time that it has ever been vertex but I am still hopefull. I see the chiro today so I am looking forward to that. I change my mind every 20 minutes about what I want to do for the birth. I keep getting conflicting information that breech is best done in the hospital and not at home, but also that it is best done at home since the hospital might try to manage the birth...ugh I just don't know.

I do plan on having an ultrasound around 37 weeks to see the exact position and everything. And I will wait for labor no matter what. And obviously if baby is transverse during labor that will mean c-section. I have possibly found a doctor who will do vaginal breech, but that is still up in the air. I'm glad I have different options (homebirth, hospital, c section w/a caring doctor) but at the same time I hate that I have to choose. I just keep thinking what if I choose the wrong thing and it ends badly. I feel like it is a lot of pressure on me! My first went vertex so early and stayed that way, I just was not expecting this at all.

If you choose the safest option then you can't be faulted for the outcome. Poor outcomes can happen no matter what, but if you knew you did the best you could, then you can find peace with any outcome. I think it would feel worse if you made a choice that was not the one you wanted to make or was safest, then there was a negative outcome...though again, you can only do your best.

The baby that is sleeping on my lap right now was breech at 35+ weeks and turned. I am short and my baby was 9 lbs at birth so it isn't like there was a ton of room in there. I will tell you this...I knew when she was turning, sheesh I was pretty uncomfortable that day So, it can happen. I have a friend who had a baby turn in labor. Both of my sister's babies turned late. Can't remember exactly, but I would say around 35 weeks or so.
