Oy my middle ds was hit with stomach yucks. Vomiting and diarrhea all night. He is better now. I got up this am and did the usual post yuck cleaning. As I was doing it I thought how glad I am we have streamlined our house to where cleaning is easy since I don't have to declutter before I do it.

That said...look out VHS tapes cause I'm coming after you later today.

I'm officially challenged!

DD & I finished going through her clothes last night and I worked on the office after she was in bed. All three of us spent time cleaning up our backyard and downstairs yesterday. However, most of it is still sitting in our master bedroom, so I cannot count it yet...

1. Old, broken ice cream maker - freecycle gone bad item
2. Old, deteriorating doormat - it did it's job at the front door for a year, then did another tour of duty by the back gate until it had no more life left

20-24. 4 boxes of cloth diapers donated!!!
(easily 100+ diapers)

after I drink my cup of cider, I think I'll go make some cat-hair disappear ...

I just have to ask...Pink lint? Do you have a lot of pink laundry? And what is she doing with the lint?

We've been dealing with a bout of vomiting over here, so I haven't made much progress. I'm off to get rid of some things now!

yes, I do a lot of pink laundry! and purple! I have 3 daughters, and I dyed some diapers with RIT in red and purple that bled forever (still getting a little pink lint), and I wash diapers every 3 days ... she knows someone who "paints" with lint, so I collect the pinks for her.

I'm in! (and new to this forum). I was just telling dh this morning that I wanted to clear out some stuff. We've had a move in progress for over a year. So, many things we haven't seen in that much time. Obviously, then, we DON'T NEED IT! So, I'm going to start going through and getting rid of it. I hope to make it to the Salvation Army this weekend with the first load.

I'm in! Hopefully I remember to come back and list what I got rid of.

Didn't know about this challenge but I already did some...

5 pairs of outgrown/worn out shoes from the front hall

ETA: I've been going crazy on the decluttering for the last hour or so

20 (or so) magazines returned to my moms
7 books I no longer want
1 board game returned to my sister
box of misc. papers

A good start for me already!

3. bag of kids books to county library
4. bag of kids books to city library - does it count if DD checked out a bags' worth immediately thereafter???
5. two large adult books returned to city library (DH took these yesterday on his own!)
6. 3 picture frames returned to Michael's today - I got them for specific things on Thanksgiving during the sale, but they didn't work out. Thanks to this challenge, I returned them ASAP instead of waiting for who knows how long!
7. 1 picture frame returned and 1 exchanged @ Aaron Bros today - I got them on Black Friday during the sale, but one didn't look right and the other was the wrong size. I was able to exchange the wrong size. I have to keep looking for the right frame for our bedroom. Thanks to this challenge, I took care of them ASAP!
8. 1 bag of toilet paper and paper towel cores for Girl Scout project - community service project that we've been saving up for since Halloween...so glad to get these out of here!
9. 2 bags of candy for GS community service project leftover from Halloween

3 decorative deer--ugh, my son bought them for me last Christmas because I like nature..nothing like some cheap Chinese made decor for a nature loving gal!! I love my son dearly but since he didn't ask where they were all year-I put in the give away pile

pair of jammies
advent wreath insert -my cat trashed my wreath last year so I bought a new pewter one that she can;t chew up.

My personal challenge is to do 350 items, because I'm pretty close. I started this binge on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

Over the weekend, I threw out/recycled:
About 15 stained, torn, useless clothes

Probably 50 items of kid artwork/coloring book pages that I didn't want to keep (we have lots to keep, but stuff that's a random 1 minute scribble or stickers or coloring book pages I do NOT need to keep!) [65 items total]

25 magazines [95 items total]

10 labor and birth class handouts [105 items total]

10 Non-salable stuffed animals and broken toys [115 items total]

Today I sold:

The last 89 items from my closed internet store [204 items total]

And donated:

2 giant boxes of kids clothes and toys to a kids charity; I am guessing 75 items total. [279 items total]

I mailed 2 boxes of about 5 items to one friend and about 20 to another, if you count each of the pocket dipes separately. [304 total]

So I have a few more to go:
I arranged for pick up of two "big" items from the apartment in the next week. -2

I have 2 items of adult clothing to drop off at salvation army. 4 total

I have bags ready to go to some friends with 12 musical instruments in 1, 2 books, 3 articles of clothing, and about 12 articles of kids clothes and a toy in the last. 34 total

Today I went through the puzzles with DD. Those with more than 1 missing piece, or those that the missing piece has been long lost, will go in the trash.

I need to go through our games cabinet and the adult books.

I'm getting there!

48. yogurt maker -freecycle
49. sewing machine (I had two) -freecycle
50.leather scraops/moccasin kit -freecycle
51. pair of raggedy pants -trash

spool of ribbon
plastic storage bin--made the decision that as I declutter a bin, the bin will not go back into the attic but rather donated to thrift.

10 pieces of random "garbage" found around the house

65

This morning I brought 2 bags and a bin of stuff to charity. I always feel like I can't possibly have more stuff to purge but there it is!!

I'm in! I'm personally challenging myself to get rid of 25 things a day for each of the 25 days before Christmas! Today I cleared out the cupboard with all of the breastpump/bottle/sippy cup items. Between the old, chewed up cups, valves, breastpump parts that need replaced with bpa free parts, etc. I definitely surpassed the 25 items mark! Multiples of the same item all count as their own thing, and I don't care if I trash it, recycle it (like today), or sell/donate it. It just has to be GONE! Anything from a piece of junk mail, to the carseats we have sitting in our garage to recycle from the car accident we were in over the summer. We have 4 people (5 this spring!), 3 dogs, and a rabbit in 925 sq ft so getting the clutter under control is essential to save mine and DH's sanity. I figure what better Christmas present for the two of us than to have a nice clean house to wake up to on Christmas morning!
