Cleaning the oven?

Just wondering what you all use to clean your oven.

I've always just used baking soda and water. If there's a really bad burnt on spill, I make a paste of the b/s and water and let it sit for awhile. After I scrub it out, I do a rinse with a clean rag w/hot water.

Another vote for baking soda and water. It cleaned a big greasy burned on mess I had in there a while back. For the parts that were really baked on, I used a brillo pad. Then I used very hot water and rags to wipe out.

What they said... baking soda and water. I use a scrubby with baking soda for the tough spots and then use old t-shirt rags with hot soapy water (dishwashing water strength) to get everything else and then rinse with plain hot water and a clean rag. Same as the stove top and counters and many other cleaning routines in our house....

Baking soda and A LOT of elbow grease. And then another round of baking soda. I hate cleaning the oven...

Believe me if we had a button we'd push it. I had to come here and ask how to clean an oven because we don't do it not because I'm looking for a better method.

When I had an electric range, I just pushed the "clean" button, too. None of our gas ranges until this current one (only had since late June) had that magic button....

Meanwhile, when I was researching ranges back in June, I learned that many control boards (electronic parts) are positioned poorly and actually get destroyed [over time] by using the "clean" cycle. I do not recall if that was specific to gas ranges with the option or all ranges. We aren't using the "clean" cycle on this range, but I have wiped down the oven far more frequently than any other and since it started out brand new (first one ever), it has been rather easy to keep clean. Thank goodness!

Well, to be fair I do wait until I absolutely can't wait anymore to clean it. I'm talking about setting off the smoke detector every time I try to use the oven. LOL Maybe yours won't be so bad!

Have you tried baking soda & water also & just found the c of t/vinegar to work better??
