So nervous about DH going back to work

DH goes back to work on Tuesday and I am so nervous! He has been such a big help this past month with the kids that I don't know how I'll keep up with everything. He's been cleaning, taking care of the older kids, bringing them to/from school. How am I going to do all of that when he's gone? When I have a bad night with Amelia I can barely keep my eyes open for the few minutes he drops the girls off, how am I going to stay awake for hours when its just me?

The worst part is his new schedule. He'll be gone when its time to pick them up from school, dinner, bedtime. The toughest part of my day I have to do alone now.

And I'll miss him. It was so nice to just relax and have this month together, I wish he didn't have to go. I know I'm lucky that he got to stay home for so long b ut it just sucks that I have to let him go back.

I'm another Stephanie with 5 children and my DH is going back to work this week. I'm sad, too. I'm really going to miss him. What I'm doing to get ready is cooking in blocks (I make three or four meals ahead of time) while my two LO's nap. Less to do once the three oldest get home so I can help with homework and have more family time. The mornings might be a little tough, but baby is sleeping while they get ready for school. I just can't sleep with her anymore. I've made sure to be really organized with te laundry and not let it get ahead of me. This helps in the morning with dressing. Showers and lunchpacking at night helps the morning routine and you cab even lay clothing out at night. All of that DH can help with to make thr mornings easier. I'll report back how it goes and you do the same! Good luck and . I know how you feel.

I can totally relate. I don't have any other kids, but I was terrified of DH going back to work after he took 5 weeks off. It was amazing to have him home. I just finished my second week going solo during the day. I am exhausted and my back hurts since my baby will only sleep while being worn AND bounced the whole time. But I'm doing okay. We were grumpy and stressed the first week, but things seem to be adjusting now. Of course, having yesterday with him home helped a lot too.
All I can say is good luck! It's so hard.

I've got 4 and we homeschool and dh went back to work a week after the birth. He's been able to shift his schedule earlier to come home earlier, though that doesn't sound like an option for you. I suggest taking it easy, keeping expectations low, do only the bare minimum. You will find a new groove, just give it some time. Good luck!
