horrible interactions between tv couples

I caught the last few minutes of this horrible show.. according to jim
Jim was berating his wife for not knowing how to program the garage door and said that even if he gave her the instructions, she still could not do it..
when he told her and she couldn't do it, she said, "There has to be something in my head besides recipes and fabric swatches!"
ick. if my husband treated me like i was a big dummy who can't do anything usefull.. we'd have a major problem
I know this isn't a new phenomonon in tv couples, but it just irked me!

Maybe that's why I can't stand that show?

or maybe because its super un-funny and idiotic, and starring a no-talent bumbling fool.

Honestly, I think I see it more the other way around - where the long suffering wife is rolling her eyes at yet another stupid thing her husband has done.

Commercials are full of this - women patronizing thier idiotic husbands who can't do the simplest household chore.

According to Jim? Isn't that an old show? DH and I used to watch it back when we had rabbit ears, maybe 8 years ago? I can't believe it's still running, if it's the same one (and it sounds like it).

It's funny, DH hated that show for kind of the opposite reason - because Jim portrayed himself as a stupid, insensitive moron husband. The wife, as I remember it, was always "right" though she seemed to let Jim figure it out for himself.

That kind of reminds me of another show on at the time, I forgot the name but Damon Wayans played the father. Now THAT show we thought was funny!

Yeah, that's exactly how DH saw it. And me, too.

Though I have to admit, there ARE couples like this out there. There's all kinds. I didn't think the show was too funny, though, too dumb for my taste.

that is also true. I guess supportive, loving partners don't make good tv, but do they have to put each other down so much?

I liked the Cosby’s, they seemed like a pretty supporting loving couple, oh and you know who my favorite TV couple is? Malcolm in the middle Hal and Lois!

I agree. Or the husband is just lazy and makes the wife do EVERYTHING

That's like "king of queens"

Kari is always calling her husband fat and forcing diets on them, and he is always complaining about her overdone makeup and bitchy attitude...

i love that show but it doesnt seem right.

Thats true. I'm having a hard time thinking of an episode of the Cosby show where they weren't supportive of each other.
And Homer and Marge Simpson. Although there have been several episodes where homer takes marge for granted and she does all the work, at least they aren't constantly bickering and putting each other down!
Hal and Lois- too funny!
