Experiences with pediatric chiropractor?

I have been taking my almost 6 mo old son to a pediatric chiro weekly for the past two weeks. He is being taken there because he has tight shoulder muscles which is hampering him in his rolling over ability on one side and I thought it would compliment his weekly physical therapy he is getting. He was a preemie, born a month early.

I'm curious what your chiro actually does to your baby during treatments, as it just doesn't seem like that much is done during a visit, so I just want to compare, as I wouldn't know any better.

She uses a device that is like a small jack hammer ("percussor") on his tight muscles that has a very mild pulsation (so mild that I wonder how it even does anything) and then a pulsating massage device on his back. Then, she puts her finger on the roof of his mouth and presses upward. That is supposed to affect the pituitary gland.

She also uses kinesiology, if anyone is familiar with that, using my arm strength to assess any weaknesses in the baby.

I don't have a lot of experience, but we just took our 6mo to the chiropractor last week for the first time. Her feet were a bit crooked when she was born, they're better now, but we thought the chiro could look at them and help; we also wanted him to just give her the once-over and make any adjustments he thought appropriate.

He basically just used his fingers to give gentle pressure to various areas of her body. No, it didn't seem like much to see it, but DD was really stimulated by it all. She was talking and growling (her happy noise) in a way that she never does with other strangers. It was quite entertaining, actually.

I will be curious to see what others have to say in this thread!

We've been taking DD to a chiro to work on her latch problems. The chiropractor just uses her fingertips to massage DD's jaw and cervical spine. Very light pressure, but baby has a big response. Sometimes DD HATES it but latches on really well after, sometimes she tolerates it and latches on really well after. It's usually over in about 15 minutes.

Am familiar with the little pulsating thing -- doesn't look like it does much, I know! We have taken DD (11 mos) since she was 6 weeks for reflux issues, though she is over her reflux now and we just take her every 3 mos now. Who knows if it helps, but she does seem more relaxed after we take her.
