Favorite Bath & Body brand for baby?

Thread Starter
Trying to pick out things like lotion, shampoo, diaper rash cream, etc.

Just wondering what everyone's favorite brand is. Maybe it depends on which product? Would love to know. So far I'm thinking about California Baby & Weleda.

Thanks!

We use California Baby body wash/shampoo. I love the smell and it's really great for sensitive skin, and tear-free. I personally don't like the Weleda baby products much, maybe it's the smell, and I don't find them as good for sensitive skin. We use a great diaper salve by a local company called BumBum Balm (from Dimpleskins). It's so good and mild, I sometimes use it as lipbalm if I can't find any but it really works.

We've been happy with California Baby. You might find the environmental working group's website helpful.

We use Lafes http://www.lafes.com/organicbaby.html One of the cleanest products I've found (as in the least harmful ingredients) and doesn't contain nut ingredients. Lafes' packing is also free from "estrogenic activity" www.eafree.com We've been using Lafes for a little over a year and wished it would have been around when DD was an infant. She's 3 now, using it since she was 2, and it is great in her still very fine fair and love that it doubles as a body wash and shampoo. The lotion is really nice too.

I used to use Weleda until we discovered DD had an anaphylactic nut allergy, so now Weleda is out (almost every baby product contains sweet almond oil). I've used California Baby and am not really a fan. It's okay, but nothing special and the detangler does as much as spraying water into your child's hair.

That's exactly what I was going to say! I love the Cal Baby diaper rash cream - it works really well and smells wonderful!

I've used CA Baby and Weleda, and I LOVE Weleda.

I also use Lansinoh lanolin for all kinds of things, like anything chapped (lips, drippy noses, etc.).

I LOVE BumBum Balm!!!

It came with my cloth diaper starter kit and it's fantastic. It smells great, goes on nicely, doesn't destroy my dipes, and any spots of redness are gone by the next change. I'm planning on ordering much, much more.

We use Burt's Bees Baby Bee shampoo/body wash - I love the smell. (I used to use the lotion on myself before I ever had a baby.)
We use both California Baby & Weleda lotions - both are fine. The Weleda one is pretty runny.
DS had eczema when he was a few months old - I used the Weleda Baby Cream on it and it went away.
The Weleda Diaper Cream helps with a red bottom, but DS hasn't ever had any serious diaper rash.
I have also tried Method Baby products, which made DS break out when he was a newborn.
Earth Mama/Angel Baby products are good, but I think the lotion is too strongly scented.

Baby wash/shampoo: diluted Dr. Bronner's baby mild unscented soap in a foaming pump
Lotion: not really needed so far, but we like Earth mama angel baby
Nipple cream: Earth mama angel baby natural nipple butter (lanolin-free)
Diaper rash cream: Motherlove diaper rash & thrush

did i write this?

i worked for a store that sold bb and i called the company to tell them to make an adult product with the baby bee scent. a year or so later we got a solid perfume (that i still have 10ish years later...) not sure if my call inspired that or not!
baby bee used to have a solid shampoo bar, but i think it has been discontinued.
the calendula waleda diaper cream is great. i don't like burts diaper cream.

We use CA baby and have been happy with them. Do check labels as some natural products contain parabens (ex.: some Weleda products.) Those Johnsons and Johnsons labels show they are full of chemicals.

I have never seen the solid perfume - but would love it! I will have to keep my eyes open for it - unless they have discontinued it by now.

BTW - I love the quote in your sig - I laughed out loud when I first read it.

CA Baby and Dr. B's baby mild here. Check skin deep's safety ratings - a lot of so called natural brands score badly.

I use diluted Dr. Bronner's liquid castile baby soap in our son's bath, with a splash of olive oil and sometimes essential oils (usually a little lavender and sweet orange). Because the olive oil is moisturizing, I don't usually need to use a lotion; if he seems dry or rashy I'll rub some jojoba oil on him once in awhile. Badger's baby oil is nice for that.

My fave baby product is definitely Earth Mama Angel Baby "Bottom Balm." I used that regularly to help prevent diaper rash during my son's first few months of life. I also used it on myself postpartum and it was awesome. It's expensive, but a little goes a long way and it works wonderfully. It also smells heavenly!

I also second the idea of taking a look at the Skip Deep "cosmetic safety database." It's an interesting resource and excellent for looking up what's actually in the products we use. The three I mentioned above are all rated as being safe.

Yes! "Bottom Balm" was a lifesaver postpartum! I never thought of using it on baby before. They also have a spray form called "New mama bottom spray"; it is really nice as well!

Hi! I work at Weleda, and I just wanted to jump in. I'm so glad we're having this conversation because baby skin is delicate, open and sensitive to the ingredients in the products you use. Please note that Weleda has never used parabens in any of our products. In fact, we don't use any chemical ingredients at all in our products. Only natural ingredients like plant extracts and oil are used to nourish and care for your baby's skin and health.

For more information, please visit our website at http://usa.weleda.com

Yeah, I was going to say, I would be pretty shocked to find parabins in Weleda. Plus I like the fact that they grow most of their own plants; biodynamically at that.

I everything Weleda.

Whoops! Well thanks Weleda, I certainly didnt mean to spread false info. I remember being at Pharmaca and looking at labels with their store staff and we put the Weleda back on the shelf because of some ingredients- I thought parabens. Clearly the sleep deprivation is affecting my memory-sorry!
