Funny, I just posted a thread in fitness and weight management and have gotten no replies! I was looking for motivation and success stories. I really want to keep up with my running this pregnancy instead of becoming lazy which I've done in the past! The weather is getting colder and daylight savings is here and I work, so most running will be indoors at the gym or treadmill at home. Wonder if there are any good running articles in Fit Pregnancy, or any good books out there? Before pregnancy on a good week I would run 3-4 times a week for a total of 15-22 miles. How about you Rockies5? Oh, I can't wait to go for a good run tomorrow, indulged way too much over the holidays

I do not run but I do power walking on days I can't go to the gym (about an hour or 4.5 miles) and go on the elliptical most days about 45 minutes when I can go to the gym. I just walked 11 miles yesterday around Berlin in the cold and did just great! I feel like there must be something wrong but baby is active and all that so it seems all good. I heard horror stories about women not being able to walk around the block and was scared that might happen to me.
I feel like being pregnant is not a time where you can just sit on your ass, that does not benefit you OR the baby.

I am hiking, swimming or riding my bike everyday. I found lap swimming to be awesome on the days my stomach feels heavy or hurts... I also am still hiking in the mountains (steep hills etc) and have had a pretty much zero complication pregnancy, even in the 'final days' I am very much comfortable and having no problems

I did stop running somewhere toward the thrid trimester but that was more so because its been perfect hiking weather then anything else
. I was also planning on cross country skiing or snowshoeing but we are having a late winter here (e.g. no snow) so thats out the window for this baby.

I ran my last 2 miles last Monday at 36 weeks. I do another form of cardio every day and weight train as well.
From week 28 on I could only run every other day as I was totally wiped out and useless the day after. I cut down from 6-7 miles a day pre-baby to 4 for the 2nd and 3 miles for the last trimester.
I developed joint , hip and sciatic nerve pain and wore a maternity belt. The pain allowed me to run but I was so sore afterward I could barely walk some days.
I wanted to run a Halloween 5k but childcare issues and fatigue ruled that out. It was sort of my goal!
I am really psyched about running again once the baby is born. In fact I'm just psyched for the baby to be born period. I really can't stand being slow and clumsy.

I am still running at 31 weeks. My pace might be a little below a 10 minute mile now though. I find jogging/running more comfortable than power walking. I haven't been since Thursday due to the holidays, family coming, etc, but I am planning a good workout for Tuesday. Right now, I am doing the elliptical for 25 minutes at as brisk a pace as I can manage
and running in the neighborhood for 1-2 miles afterward. I found that I was starting to have a lot of B-H contractions a few weeks ago if I just did runs, but more time of the elliptical has helped with that. I think it is great to stay active during pregnancy! I have had two very easy labor/deliveries so far.

It's so wonderful to "meet" all of you.
Before pregnancy I don't even know what my mileage was..at least 25 a week on a low week I guess. Right now it's about 10 a week and that feels awesome to me. I also do spinning, circuit training, weight training, lliptipcal stair stepper, lots of yoga, some swimming, lots of hiking and just like to be active. Nothing is as depressing as sitting around to me.
I'd really love to keep this thread going! How about we each ask a few questions each day to keep the conversation going?

A little pricey, but I love my yoga/workout capris from fit2bmom. I am not using any kind of belt/abdominal support.
ETA: I ended up running yesterday, and like milimama mentioned, man are my hips starting to hurt. I am also having some sciatic nerve pain too. Yikes! I hope I can keep this up!

I'm bummed since I haven't been able to run, DD is sick and I need to be with her,haven't wanted to put her in the jogging stroller due to the illness, and can't take her to my gym's childcare room. I am only 7+weeks so no one can tell I'm a pregnant runner! I do have some comfy workout/yoga type pants from old maternity navy that I will be using again! A good sports bra is a must though! I hope to run tonight or later in the week

I got these pants in my first tri (about 1-2 sizes bigger then normally) and I am still wearing them almost every day-- I can wear them for workouts, dinners out, everything-- I pretty much live in them. They wash and wear and don't shrink. They were insanely expensive and I had to 'think about them' for 3 days but they are the best pants I have ever owned.
With that being said they are expensive but they will work when I am unpregnant as well

I can't even use the elliptical at less than 150 so I can't imagine what I could do at 140 bpm.
I ran 1 mile today before hitting the elliptical and was passed by two soldiers who will now not allow any soldier to complain about their pt test run after having seen a full-term lady beat it around the track. It made my day to have someone say something positive! Actually, the majority of comments are positive. I think those who have nasty things to say are jealous honestly. Most couldn't handle a 15 minute jog.

There are quite a few articles on this.
My opinion is that for a runner, it's impossible to keep it under 140 while pregnant. I know it isn't dangerous to get it into the 170's for short periods either.
I've run through lots of pgs. The last one not so much due to major PSD and sciatica. there really wasn't a physical ailment I didn't have--so now I see a chiro and find there isn't a physical ailment I do have.
ran today, really slowly. finals week and I'm just not resting enough. did the freeform elliptical for 30 too, and circuit training with spinning.

lol about the soldiers and PT tests. I workout at the gym on post as well and the soldiers were arguing about who was better with weights and stuff and I was doing MORE then they were! LOL. That shut em up. hahaha it was quite funny.

I don't know that I qualify, really. :nana I'm still jogging at almost 36 weeks, but I'm only doing 2-3 miles everyday. I'm also doing light strength training. I have had a pretty easy pregnancy and I hope that continues through delivery!
It has definitely gotten a little bit more difficult to jog in the last two weeks. I do have access to an elliptical (which would probably be easier on my joints), but with my work and home commitments, it is a bit difficult to make that a priority over jogging.
If we decide to go down the pregnancy path again, I will definitely invest in better, more maternity-friendly jogging pants. I'm still wearing my pre-pregnancy jogging pants and while they do the job, they are not as comfortable as I would like.
