oh, and I meant to suggest nightweaning, too. I'm in the middle of very gradually and gently nightweaning. (Perhaps I'll get flamed for this, but DS is only 11 months old. Before I started he was waking 5-6 times a night and it was killing me.) When he wakes I just rock and sing him back to sleep. I push nursing time back by 30 minutes each night or two, depending on whether he seems ready that night, and if he gets really upset I go ahead and nurse him even if it's a bit too early. But that's only happened once, so I don't think nightweaning is very traumatic for him at all. Last night he went 8 hours without nursing and only woke once during that time. Since we started nightweaning he's been eating more solids, so that might help give your LO more appetite for them.
