my DD has some decay on her four front upper teeth and one upper molar that is nearly half gone. i'm not so worried about her upper teeth as i think i may be able to heal them. the back molar is pretty bad. it's decayed from the inside to the middle of the tooth. i have very little interest in root canals for health reasons. would extracting the tooth cause long term issues? i've read that it may or may not effect spacing. we have an appointment next week for her and i would like to be prepared.

on the chance our dentist can fill it what is the preferable filling for the naturally minded family? silver? composite? what kind of treatment would a dentist recommend for that much decay?
