Yay- Hylands Teething Tabs Work! But do we need to stop for safety?

Thank you MDC folks for recommending the teething tabs! They are working great and really helping 4 mo. old DD who was waking crying all night.
So the box says to discontinue use after 7 days but teething is a long process so I'm wondering whether others stop and restart or what?
Besides the active ingredients, I also wonder about the regular influx of sugar too though it is a tiny amount.
ALso do you vary the amounts you give dependent on age?
I've been crushing 2 tabs and giving w/teaspoon of water 3-4x/day. Last night I gave her 3 tabs before bed (she slept really badly the previous night for other issues) and she had one of the best nights sleep ever.
I love this stuff-want a happy baby & want us to sleep but dont want to overdo it- thanks!

I will admit we gave plenty more than that to DD during desperate teething times. As far as I know they are considered rather inert and not dangerous. Someone we know had their child eat the entire bottle, they called poison control, and they said there was no concern at all!

Yeah, I think it's fine too.

So did you basically give them every day as needed throughout the teething process then?
Thanks!

I gave them to DD every day, as needed for a long time!

We bought ours at Kroger. It's just a big chain grocery store. They are in the isle with the formula and pacifiers, not in the medicine section of the store.

I got mine at Whole Foods but I also saw them at Woodmans and BuyBuyBaby. Also, I love love love love the Hyland's Colic Tablets, since my DD is very high needs and sometimes they are the only thing that will calm her down.

We found some in our local Co-op. I think most larger supermarkets carry them. We recently started using Humphreys Teething Strips too- these are easier and melt on the tongue. Same ingredients as the Hylands and they work within seconds. I also wondered about how often we could give theses, but they are homeopathic so I don't think it would be easy to overdose. We have only been doing it at night- maybe once or twice each night for a few nights now.

Whatever works to relieve pain and help everyone sleep!

I forgot about these things! I'll have to pick some up. I think we are in the early stages of teething. I remember really liking them for ds1, but don't recall how often I used them. Thanks for the thread!

i got some at safeway, but they werent with the baby stuff OR the medicine... they were with the toothbrushes!
i noticed that the first ingredient is belladonna.. i thought that was a poison??
but man, they really do work! he never sleeps in the car and he was out like 2 minutes after taking 1 tablet!

I'm pretty sure it has to say "discontinue use after 7 days" for legal reasons, just like it has to say "for children under two, consult your physician" or "do not take while pregnant or breastfeeding."

It doesn't mean any of those things are true, it's just what they have to put on the label.

I found some at a local drug store, but have also bought them from vitacost.com at a significant discount! They have a $5.99 flat shipping fee, so it is more of a deal if you buy more stuff. But I placed an order on a Sunday and got my package on Tuesday! Also got the colic tablets from them.

Yeah for teething tablets!! My kiddo just cut a tooth two days ago and they allow him to stop crying and sleep!

yeah I'm a total believer. We will never be without these things again- at least until he cuts his final baby tooth!

I'm so glad this thread was helpful for other mamas too!
Yes-the pregnancy warning on teething tabs is rather silly!
I will check out humphreys strips too, as crushing the tabs & her spitting some back out may get old eventually.
Belladonna is a poison but I believe that homeopathy uses tiny tiny amts of these substances.
Got my amber necklace today too so we'll be adding this to the mix-hope it is big enough.
thanks!
