Christmas movies for kids?

Hi all,

This will probably seem strange but I am wondering if there are any Xmas movies for kids that don't have a villain in them? Dd has not watched tv much, sometimes watches pbs kids but that's about it. We debated on The Grinch (she likes the book) and Frosty but I honestly think they would scare and upset her and she'll cry. Hopefully next year, she's 4 1/2. We have a lot of black and white classics like "White Christmas" and such but no animated movies. Any sort of violence/bad guy scares her, which I am okay with, we have shielded her from it. I'm rambling now...hopefully there's something out there, but I doubt it! Oh yea, we don't watch Dora, Barbie and the like, so that will probably narrow the list down further!

Thanks so much!

Oh, she sounds just like my four and a half year old dd. There's a Caillou movie that is completely free of any form of conflict whatsoever. My dd also enjoyed watching the Nutracker on PBS but did get uncomfortable when the music got tense. We watched a Charlie Brown Christmas, but I think "some kids these days" might find the animation a bit slow.

How about the Muppet Christmas?

A Muppet Family Christmas is wonderful. No villains or anything like that. Just the Muppets holed up at Fozzie's childhood farmhouse celebrating Christmas while a blizzard brews outside.

Raymond Briggs' The Snowman is beautiful and sweet-no words!

His Father Christmas is also lovely.

My kids (and I) love the Santa Clause movies . . . there's no real villain in the first two, and the third one, the villain isn't really scary. They explain the Santa story so well, and really are just such sweet movies. LOVE them!!

We also like Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer (based on the song . . . it's a really absurd movie), both versions of The Grinch (neither kid was scared of them at a young age, but neither kid is sensitive), and tonight, we're watching 8 Crazy Nights -- I don't remember that one very well, but one lady flipped out and read the theater employees the riot act when we saw it the first time . . . so maybe not a good choice if you're picky!

I find Charley Brown pretty sad!

I second The Santa Clause (the first one) -- there's no bad guy.

Also, next week there's a new Disney/Pixar holiday special on ABC -- I think it's Tuesday -- called Prep & Landing. I got to see a preview screening, and it's extremely well-done, no "bad guys," and very funny and sweet.

Eight Crazy Nights is NOT for kids, unless you are completely anything-goes and would be fine watching South Park and that kind of thing with them.

the South Park xmas episode from the first season is next on our list, and my kids loved 8 Crazy Nights . . . but yeah, definitely not for people who are conservative in their viewing habits. Hilarious, though!
