Winter decorating on a budget - Page 2

Easy, cheap and pretty:

Take a wire coat hanger (or equivalent) and bend it into an "O". Buy 8" of 3 good quality fabrics (print on both sides is better). Cut it into 1" strips and knot all the way around the wire frame to make a beautiful wreath. Choose a brown, a blue and one with a blue/brown print or all 3 blue/brown prints.

Cheap tapers shoved into a pretty bowl filled with sugar is nice too.

Readymade magazine's current issue had some ideas. One was to take one of those foam wreath circles & glue on a bunch of buttons, then spray it white. You could then attach a blue bow in your collow scheme.

My only other thought was hanging origami, which I'm thinking about doing.

We made paper chains today out of beautiful scrapbooking paper. Its not Christmas strictly, more wintery. We made the links small and about a inch thick. We went all the way around our kitchen. I love it.

It was cheap b/c I had the fabric and the embroidery frames were really cheap. Total cost was about $25. It was super easy and took less than 2 hours to do. I will keep it up prob. through Feb as a winter decoration and not just strictly Xmas. I too, am in need of Winter decorating ideas. I'll prob. do some other things mentioned here, like blue and white decorating with branches and pinecones.
