Discipline and the highly sensitive child.

My DD is 3.5, going to be 4 in March. She is a lot like me in that we are both emotionally sensitive. I'm really not sure how to discipline her in a way that is effective, and won't break her spirit. I can barely be angry with her without her crying and then needing to "nursie to feel better." I am constantly hearing that I hurt her feelings.

Does anybody else have issues with disciplining a sensitive child? What methods work for you?

With my ds who is highly sensitive I learned to take deep breathes before addressing something with him. If I wasn't calm, was showing anger, he would dissolve into sobbing.

I found I spent a lot of time explaining that even when I am angry/sad/disappointed over something that he has done/not done I still love him very much.
