Once a transition vomiter, always a transition vomiter?

I have only had one babe so far, so was wondering if anyone else had experiences for me to read about.

If you vomited during transition the first time, did you during your subsequent births?

I have only had two babies, so my experience is not as reliable as some moms here on MDC but for me it's certainly true. I was prepared for it with my second birth though and it was a lot less unpleasant. I made sure to eat and drink plenty during labor. Nothing sucks like battling with a vomit reflex when you have an empty stomach .

Did not vomit with DD
Vomited twice with DS1 (fastest, most intense labor),
Did not vomit with DS2 (longest, most chill labor).

Each birth is different. Be prepared for it. I always tell my clients - Birth is an adventure in fluids.

2 out of 2 for me.. but i only vomited once or twice each birth.. it wasn't bad though, i saw it coming, asked for a bucket, did what i needed to do and moved on..

I only vomited while pushing with my DD, then in transition with DS1. Didn't vomit at all with DS2. I had a c-section with the twins and was under general...so no help there.

I've had three, and yes. Though during my first labor I started vomiting at about 4 cm (probably 8 hours before I gave birth) and got quite dehydrated by the end, and with the other two it was more limited to just transition.

Vomited with my first birth, and not at all with the next three.

I've only done it once and that was with baby #4.

With my first I vomited throughout, but I wonder if that was epidural and hospital starvation policy related My second was a very rapid, intense birth and I didn't vomit at all despite having severe morning sickness with him up until the end. So really I think it can vary!

Nope. Vomited with #1, not with 2 or 3. However, my second two were homebirths, which may have helped (with #1, I vomited just before leaving for the hospital and it may have been partly triggered by the stress of leaving home).

Based on my experience, I wouldn't expect any of your labors to be much like the first, except that it will very likely be easier this time.

I've had 5 babies and only threw up once (my second).

I only have 2 babies and with my first I did not vomit but with my new baby I did quite a bit I was not at all prepared for that! I think as everyone has always said each birth is as different as each child born!

I thought I was going to throw up with my first but never actually did. I didn't even have the feeling with my other 4. My first was also my longest labor at 9 hours.

4 births - all same situation (homebirth w/MW)

Threw up with #1 and asked for bowl with #3 but didn't use it. #2 I never hit transition she was a precipitous labor with 3 actual contx and #3 was the longest labor and most painful but I didn't feel nauseas at all. #4 didn't feel it either

I've had four; first at a hospital and last three at home. I threw up with number 2 and 3 but not 1 and 4.

No! Each birth is unique.

I did with all three of my births.

Vomited with #1 and not the other 3. DS1 was an induction for Pre-E, no pain meds. The other 3 were natural.
Yes, did it with both. I actually get quite happy when I vomit b/c I know it's a sign I'm getting close to transition and the end of labor. I also make sure to drink/eat things that won't taste bad coming back up .
