December Queer Conceptions: My BFP would be the greatest gift this season! - Page 3

I posted this in the ONE thread over in TTC, but I think there should be a category for "marinating."

Done inseming, but still waiting to O. Therefore, I feel like I'm marinating.

Anyone? Anyone?

Lyndzies, you let me know when you are ready to put that roast in the oven after it's done marinating!

If I do not have humor while TTC, I have nothing.

ETA: may as well throw me in the oven AKA TWW. It's not like anything else is going to be "happening" this cycle before AF is due. Thanks, osker!

Lyndzies - I like marinating! Now go find us an icon for it! looks good to me.

ETA: incidentally, I call TTC "preheating the oven" i.e. getting ready to put the bun in, so marinating seems like an appropriate step.

AFM - thanks everyone. I'm a mess. I'm going to go to bed.

Joining TTC

Hi all,
We're just starting our journey and would like to join this thread. I think I thought that it would just happen, so after two at home inseminations, we are getting geared up to start down a more medical and community supported path. I'm not sure if this is the right tread for us as we may not insem again this month (I'm a little irregular and greatly affected by stress). I've read through many posts and am thinking good thoughts for everyone!

Big hugs for you Papa. Hang in there and be kind to yourself.

Welcome, Mtnlisa, I hope we can help to provide a good community for you on this journey.

Welcome, Mtnlisa!!

-------

So.... Ho. Li. Sh*t.

If my temp continues to go up for the next two days, FF will put my O at CD15 (i.e., yesterday, the day of the last insem).

Wow. Seriously? Could I really be so lucky as to have this cycle work out that way for me???? Or is it just because I don't have enough FP temps?

Just wow. C'mon progesterone!
Lyndzies Umm..wow! Looks like *amazing* timing! Best, best wishes for a BFP this time!

mtnLisa Welcome! I'm new here, too, and this is a great group of people.

Cejae Welcome back! I vote for the home equity line (since this is a democracy and all ;-) and hope that one round of IVF does the trick!

Papa BUMMER. So sorry. Your clarity about the single round of IVF and then, if necessary, the option to return to ttc with frozen embryos at a later point sounds really healthy, though. I had my daughter in grad school and remember how distracted I was for a very long time, before, during, and after the pregnancy. I'm starting to get back into that constantly distracted frame of mind, and it sucks. Now, in a tt position, I have teaching and meetings to make me *feel* productive, even though I'm still getting too little done in terms of research and publishing. Hopefully, IVF in January with a fully monitored and medicated cycle do the trick. If it doesn't, it sounds like you have the self-awareness and strength to move forward, knowing that parenting is still in your future, if you want it to be.

AFM, the good news is that my KD is getting the medical records for his cousin (who died of a heart defect), and they show that the child did not die of the particular defect that is freaking out my clinic/bank. I'm optimistic that the clinic will be able to move forward and hope that they can do it soon...so that I can insem in January! The other good news is that I've been charting for 2 months now and have a very clear three-day pattern: opk positive; temp dip with clear "highly fertile" signs into the afternoon (can't feel O, sadly); sharp temp spike. So I'm almost certainly ovulating on the second day...right? I should do my IUI then, right?

When I was ovulating yesterday, I felt *desperate* for sperm. Hah.

Take good care, all.

MtnLisa, welcome and may your journey be short.

Papa, I'm so sorry to hear about your disappointing news.

Lyndzies, Looks like we're on the same tww this cycle. I was marinating on Wednesday and looks like I ovulated that day too (on CD 27!). On Monday I swore this was going to be an anovulatory cycle and then later that day the EWCM started. We had time to get our first insem in Wednesday with great timing. Wish we could have done one more insem the day before but I'm happy with the one and with a very first chance ever at being pregnant. Now onto the waiting!

MtnLisa - welcome!

Lyndzies - wow, talk about awesome timing! YAY!

AmandaHope - crossing everything that they give your KD the green light! I'm sorry he lost his cousin, but glad it wasn't due to the heart defect!!!

Papa - crap. Hugs.

AFU - argh. So our sperm was to arrive yesterday. We were gone most of the day due to DW's birthday celebration and fully expected to go to our apartment's front office to get the box. Well, there were assorted birthday and Christmas boxes, but no tall, skinny, heavy box. Um, what? As of that morning, it was in town, not five miles away.

They read the address as 6487 XXX ave, not 6481 XXX ave and 6487 doesn't exist.

So DW got on the phone and found out the problem with the address thing and corrected them and.....then rescheduled the send for today. Meanwhile I'm practically frothing, because we could've just gotten in the stinkin' car and gotten it. But whatever. Because I still haven't ovulated yet due to my body trying desperately to get sick. I already figured that this month was going to be a long shot due to stress and crappy timing, but really?! Anyway, please send happy surge/ovulation vibes...

All great news! So glad that you're getting the KD/clinic freak-out thing all sorted out! Regarding IUI timing, I don't know a whole lot about that... as far as how many hours past the surge it should be. I know others on here have useful info, though!

YAY for TWW buddies!!! that you had fantastic timing and that the spermies met up with the egg!!!! Now begins the longest 14-ish days EVER (how long is your usual LP?)

mkpgoddess - O. M. G. I would have been LIVID!!!! I'm glad that you're sorting it all out though, and that your body is waiting for O. Hopefully the stars will align and everything will work out PERFECTLY!

AFM - thanks for all the encouraging words about timing, everyone! So, as far as what I said about it being POSSIBLE that I O'ed early... I pinned this cycle at CD 15 (when FF may give me my CHs, even though I usually O on CD17) w/ O of my pregnant chart, and they are curiously similar pre-O! Definitely different pattern than other charts pre-O!

Just something to keep my hope alive and obsess over while I wait for my CHs! Lol.

ALSO, I had a premonition this morning (I dont' usually buy into such things, but this was too weird!). I am prefacing it with the fact that we plan to name a girl baby Sophie (after DP's grandmother):

1 - when I checked my inbox this morning, there was an offer from Mothering for a free "Sophie the Giraffe" if you ordered a subscription to Mothering Magazine using the promo code provided.

AND

2 - I was "resting my eyes" on the bus this morning, and when I opened them, we were passing by a cafe or salon or something near my house called "Sophie's."

couldn't ignore the premonitions, so I ordered a Mothering subscription to get the giraffe. Hahaha. I'm such a nut. I probably have totally just jinxed the hell outta myself just from posting this. LOL.

Lyndzies, my average LP is 13 days, sometimes 12, sometimes 14. I think we'll try to hold out and test on day 14 if possible and no AF yet. How about you?

LOL on the Sophie premonitions.

Oh, could the list keeper please move me to waiting to test?

usually 14 days on the nose! Last month was weird - the first ever to be shorter than 14. I always say I'm going to hold out till AF is late to test... but I never make it. I'll probably cave around 12 or 13, but we'll see!

Mtnlisa, Welcome! Would you prefer to be placed under "waiting to O" or "waiting to be ready"?

Megan and Lyndzies, how exciting to have a tww buddy! I've moved you over to join the tww crazy train.

--is everyone where they're supposed to be on the chart? I feel like I'm not keeping track that well...

AFU: absolutely nothing to report. more nothing than has ever been nothing before. Blech. We're hosting a baby shower this weekend (talk about torture) and are expecting AF by Thursday at the latest. At this rate we see absolutely no reason to even be thinking about testing early or ever testing at all. Oh well, c'est la vie!

You got it, dude!
osker - thanks for moving me! They made a category in the ONE thread on TTC for me called "marinating." LOL!!!

Sqeeeee!

Looks like O was indeed 2 days early. I'll know for sure from tomorrow's temp.

The planets, they are aligning! Now I just have to hope that some spermies bumped into the egg on it's way down. (I'm thinking if it did, it was a girl spermie... a Facebook friend posted a picture of her son holding a Sophie the giraffe last night. The third in my series of premonitions yesterday!)
And, I'm out this cycle. Ugh. Now we just have three days to decide whether or not to do one more round of femara/iui/progesterone (making it an even 12 cycles) or take a break and then get started on an IVF protocol after a laproscopy. Have I mentioned that I hate laproscopies?
