Hypnobabies Users--WDYD when the relaxation feeling is annoying?

I'm in week 2 of the program and starting to like it and feel like its working thus far. However, last night I had to turn of the Deepening CD 25 minutes into the track because when I feel the relaxation, I feel it most strongly in my legs and feet...but then that results in a numb, tingly feeling which makes me want to get up and move around; I needed to shake my legs out or something. I tried to deal with it for 5 or 10 minutes last night before I just couldn't take it anymore and had to stop.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is this an issue of me deciding that the relaxation will feel differently and then making it feel that way?

Oh, and I'm sure that its not just the position I'm in hitting a nerve or something. It's definitely the hypnosis itself.

Whenever that happens (and yeah, it's happened to me too), I just turn my switch to the center position and move around while listening to the rest of the CD. Don't do anything directed, but if it feels like you should move, then move! I think the Hypnobabies relaxation is meant to relax you in whatever position feels most comfortable during labor - that's why there's a center switch. You don't have to be absolutely still the whole time.

I don't get my centerswitch til next week. lol. So... should I just tough it out until next week or read ahead to learn about the center switch.

I would totally read ahead. I remember hearing the center switch thing and going "WOW! I'm so glad that's in here!" and being really relieved.

To this is say - congratulations! Your bodie is releasing it's natural anesthetic is what it sounds like. This means that the hypnosis is working really well for you. If it becomes to unbearable, just do as you have been doing and stop the practice and get up and walk around.

I have had a Hypnobabies birth and plan on reviewing the material again for my 2nd hypnobabies birth. The thing I did was I listened to the cds in bed at bed time. I never made it through more than 10 min before falling asleep. I was curious what they had to say but never was able to stay awake. Even when you fall asleep to the cds your subconscious mind continues to learn the routine. During my birthing time when I had powerful waves I was motionless and basically asleep but would move around in between. I was in the tub for an hr and it felt like 10 min. b/c I was sort of asleep.

At the beginning of the program I was antsy and had a very hard time not moving a single muscle. it almost hurt. The center position was great b/c if I had an itch I could move to scratch it. Be patient let yourr body get used to this feeling. It is your natural anesthesia at it's best. It DOES get easier!!! Good luck!!!

I asked about this at the hypnobabies website - they said until I got my center switch to put it on when I went to bed and just listen without following the directions.

I found the center switch helped a lot, but the Deepening CD still sometimes gives me grief, so I often just listen to that one.

On the Yahoo group, lots of mamas reported that the Deepening CD would drive them completely batty. It did for me too, until the actual birth and it was the only track I wanted to hear. The center switch helped immensely, as did practicing (once in maintenance) while sitting in a busy part of the house. Something about all the background noise gave me something to ignore, and somehow that helped me.

Hooray, you've reached the "itching and twitching" part of your practice! Seriously, though not everyone goes through it, most do. It's actually a sign that your subconscious mind is starting to take notice of the suggestions and respond to them by trying them out a bit.

Every time you turn your switch on or off, you are reinforcing what it is and how it works, so even if you spend an entire session messing with your switch to deal with the itching and twitching, you are doing a great job of training your mind! Just keep going, and this will pass and practice will become easier and more enjoyable.
