This is part vent and part question. The vent part is that my family let DS suck on a french fry and lick a Frito over the weekend. The Frito thing really irks me b/c my cousin did it while DS was IN MY ARMS. She just stuck it right on his tongue. And the french fry was when DH and I had run up to the store for something and left DS in what I thought were the capable hands of my sister. Both that sister and that cousin are moms themselves, but HIGHLY HIGHLY mainstream. I can't even mention certain things or try to explain why I parent the way I do w/o getting a ton of eye-rolls, etc. It makes me just want to not visit any family at all until the child is 5 years old or something, lol.
Anyway. I am
to say that this isn't the first "solid food" that DS has had, since DD was helpful and shared her flavored cracker w/ him a few days before Thanksgiving. So even if my family hadn't let him sample things like that like that, he would still have tasted salt and seasoning and stuff.
I would never EVER let my BF baby have "solids" like that on purpose, but am just wondering if DS will be ok. He didn't seem to have any ill effects from the cracker that DD shared with him and so far doesn't seem to be showing any ill effects from the other samplings either, but I'm just wondering if I should be looking out for anything long-term, or just try to be more attentive so it doesn't happen again.
