Nipple Pain - what is it?

Here's the run down:
About a week ago, my daughter (28 months) bit/tore at my nipple pretty bad, causing some trauma.
Really tender for a few days after.
Around the 3rd day I noticed a small white area (about the size of a pimple) on the nipple surface.
The overall soreness subsided and a very specific, sharp, pain started - emanating exactly from that white spot.
A day later, it looked like it contained puss, so I popped it and there was a small bit of puss. I cleaned it with peroxide and put antibiotic ointment on it.
It's now a few days later. The dead skin fell away from the spot and the duct it was over is open, but it's red and the pain is still there.
It's a sharp pain that comes and goes. It lasts about 20 seconds and comes every 10 minutes or so. It's centered right on that spot and a bit deeper into the breast right behind the spot, but mostly surface pain. (have had clogged duct pain this is NOT that type of pain).
The pain is more intense/frequent after nursing, especially an extended nursing session (like an attached nap).
Any ideas what this might be and what to do about it?
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a bleb, or milk blister. You can do a search on this and find some good information on healing this. Lashinoh may help in keeping it moist while it heals.
