Oh no, artparent! Those "in public" throwups are horrid, aren't they? You poor dear (and poor little one!).

oh elisa, no real advice, sounds like you're doing a lot... I don't typically try to encourage pukey kids to eat or drink anything at all unless they're showing signs of dehydration (really dry lips, etc) though my kids also never seem to get high fevers, and with a high fever there is more fluid loss through sweating, etc. usually the sip of water right after a puke is good enough for me, and I just tell them to let me know if they are thirsty, and let them drink water or juice if they are, but I don't "try to get fluids into them" because it always comes back up unless they've asked for it, and even still then sometimes... last time dexter was pukey he really wanted new zealand's equivalent of gatorade, so I got him one and it did actually seem to help -- but water, stevia, salt and lemon (I think that's what you said you made?) would have the same effect, just not as exciting for my kids -- they don't seem to always agree with my healing methods!

hoping your family recovers in time for your trip!!!!

Hugs artparent, and extra big hugs to N.

I think just watching her and offering the electrolyte drink sounds great...and get through it patiently (which it sounds like you are compassionately doing!). The drink sounds good, I'm going to remember that...the added stevia to replace sugar is good...the body will reject the sugar and off-set the bacteria balance in the gut (which will be way out of whack after throwing up.) Sugar will prolong the bacteria balancing, by offering the bad bacteria food to thrive on! Offer plain yogurt? It works in small amounts for my #1 puker (M). As in, he'll eat it and seems to swing out of tummy bugs astonishingly fast!

thanks mamas we seemed to have turned a corner, but we'll see what our night brings. surprisingly, it seemed a bit like arnica really helped her with the tummy pains, the nux vomica wasn't really taking the edge off them and suddenly it struck me that her tummy might actually be *hurt* from all the puking

we'll see. if my tall one + i don't get it i will be so relieved.

Thanks!
I was totally knocked out all day Tuesday!
I'd love to go to Daiso but every time I try to find that place I get hopelessly lost! Anyone feel like posting some no fail directions? (I live near First and Commercial)

I've never been as I also always get lost in Richmond. But I think I'm going to try to head out there before Xmas. It looks very cool!

robug, here's a link to the directions from your home to Daiso -- I went that route and it worked for me! Leave enough time for Richmond traffic .

I'm heading there tomorrow!

Oh, come on...it's not that bad ...except maybe right around Aberdeen Centre where Daiso is. No wonder I never go there!

I was at Daiso last week, or was it the week before? Anyways, make sure to pick up some of the "mug" cupcake mixes!

Also, check out the food court at Aberdeen! Lots of really unusual food that you really can't get anywhere else..

Speaking of Christmas shopping...does anyone have a good way to keep track of what you are planning to buy & what you have bought? I feel an Excel spreadsheet coming on...

I was there a while back and picked up some wooden eggs and toast for DD for stocking stuffers. Very cute. Lots of neat stuff.

muffin in a mug recipe online here... http://www.studentrecipes.com/recipe...od/mug-muffin/ I might try it out tomorrow with DD, will report back if we do, and if it works!

Y'know, I'm just such a paper-and-pen kinda gal. I keep trying new techy things, but nothing ever seems to work for me like paper and pen.

As for presents, I haven't bothered with anything, really, since I only have to worry about hubby and kids and ONE other adult. All the adults in the family have done a gift exchange where each person picks one name, and then get a gift for that person worth about $50. It's all good except my mom *always* goes and gets a million random boxes of chocolates too, and she always gives DH the Brandy Beans. He can't eat them, nor does he want to. For Pete's sake, she could at least give him Turtles or Almond Roca or Tofifee that I would eat! Mind you, he's difficult to buy for. I think I might buy him a Unicef thing or something... Y'know, in addition to the cute "decorative" undies I got.

Off to do my SD Learning Plan comment thingy...

Problem with that is, the paper gets lost in all the other papers...at least on the computer I have some sort of order to my files!

Ah yes, that's my Waterloo too. Sometimes it's worked for me to keep a smallish notebook in my purse and *everything* goes in there. Then it's sort of in chronological order. Kinda. Works for DH, though.
