Taylor is a "spiritual anthropologist" and the book is about how humans were not always under the illusion that we are all separate beings, were not always concerned about status, and had been previously much more creative, healthy, and intuitive, but when environmental conditions dried out the Sahara about 6,000 years ago, humans from that part of the world slowly developed a very pronounced ego, became warlike, and influenced most of the other people on the planet as they slowly came into contact with them. A really interesting read, and made me never look at history the same again.
I first saw it on Eckhart Tolle's website and ordered it through my interlibrary loan and no longer have the book with me but would love to discuss if anyone is up for it.
