toddler wakes to potty and can't go back to sleep?

Hoping someone has some experience with this. DD is 2.5, usually dry through the night for a long time, but occasionally (like all of us) has to pee in the middle of the night. However, she's far enough along on the PL'ing curve that she wakes up in her room and come and finds us to pee, but actually going to the potty wakes her up to the point where she can't fall back to sleep for hours (from 2:45-5am last night). Last night, she laid in our bed quietly the whole time, and tried to sleep, and I slept off and on during that time (I'm 36 weeks pregnant, so not sleeping great myself). Does anyone know what age a child can typically get up, go potty, and then go back to sleep at night? I would rather encourage the potty rather than peeing in a diaper at night, especially since the same situation has happened with peeing in a diaper (as in, she wakes up and finds us because she's peed, and then is up for hours). Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm in a similar situation. My DD is 23 mo and has been 100% PLd and out of diapers for three months now. Once or twice a week she wakes at 3:30 am needing to pee and then is up until 7 am. i nurse her and/or dh reads to her but she just cannot fall back asleep. It is tiring for sure.

I wish I had some answers for you, but we're in the same place. DS is 2y9mo and has been doing this for 2 weeks now.

Well, at least we're not alone. Hope you get some sleep, mamas! I've been keeping an eye on liquid intake at dinner, but I also don't want her to get dehydrated, either.

We generally do a "don't offer, don't refuse" on water after about 2 hours before bed time. That seems to keep it to only once a night to pee, but that doesn't seem to help with the sleep problem.

My friend has a 3.5yo. She told me that he stopped waking to pee at 3ish, so I'm hoping that is a bladder growth thing that happens then.
