So, I am just sitting here marveling at DS's explorations. First he was trying to get out through the safety gate we have on the living room door (our only baby proofed room). First he pulled himself to standing (even though it has vertical bars) and tried to step up on the bottom of the gate to climb over. When that didn't work, he pulled himself over to the edge of the gate and started reaching towards the handle that DH and I use to open and close the gate. When that didn't work, he sat down and picked up his hair brush and started banging the gate -- which made a neat sound. So then he turns and starts banging the wooden table next to the gate and the gate alternately to compare the sounds. He then adds the floor to his percussion mix up and adds his unique babbling vocals to the masterpiece and turns to smile at me as if to say "hey mom, look how clever I am." Finally he gets hungry so he crawls over to me, pulls on my pant leg until I pick him up and then does a face plant in my chest nuzzling around until I get a boobie out for him. It's hard to believe that just a year ago now I was just feeling the first faint little movements of my unknown little bean wondering what he or she would be like. Or that just six months ago he was this tiny newborn who did nothing but sleep, eat and cry these unintelligible cries that kept me wondering just what he was thinking. So I am just amazed at this wonder of babyhood, how quickly their little minds start to make sense of and connect with the world and people around them and I feel so blessed to have a part in this miracle
