Please help me succeed this time around!

I am currently 30 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. DS1 I nursed for only 6 weeks and he has terrible allergies and a chronic cough ATM (he is 5.5 yrs). DD I nursed for 3 months of hell. She was colicky, always seemed to be uncomfortable and the second I switched to formula it was like a different baby. I realize now that it was likely something I was eating. (My mom was diagnosed with Celiac's early this year, so maybe?). I also have really large breasts and huge nipples and it seems like latch is a problem-the kids never seemed satisfied.
Also, I have to go back to work rather soon. I am a dentist and you get basically no leave. I'll have to pump at work as well between patients.
How can I do this? I'm already freaking out about failing again.

Contact a local La Leche League group NOW... the local support will be invaluable. Our LLL leader sometimes visits new moms at the hospital or at home to help prevent BF issues from developing. The LLL leader can help you identify problems with latch, diet, etc. Also, getting in touch with local moms who bf will be invaluable.
That said, it's hard to pump at work, but it's doable. And your LO might choose to do the majority of his/her feedings at night when you are around.... :-)
Good luck, and it does get easier after a few months.... eventually it will be easier than dealing with bottles, buying formula, etc.

Thank you. I have an appt today with my OB and the hospital I deliver at has really good BFing support. I will ask her too.

you'll get it.

Don't freak out! My first was terrible... not him, the BF experience.... this one is eight years younger, ten weeks old, and I have had NO problems. all it was was a woman at the birthing center he was born at showing me the proper way to hold the breast so he could latch right all that stress for nothing. You will be fine if you can be shown the latch trick. There was no pain for me this time, and it just took a few days for Little Liam and I to figure out what was comfortable for us.

I agree - surround yourself with support. LLL is a great group of women who will be there for you 100%!
Each baby is different, so try to go into it with an open mind. Of course you wont forget what you have already been through, but use all of that education as tools for the future. You know you have to work to get that latch, and you know you will most likely need to watch your diet. These are awesome things to know before hand that will most likely lead to your success.
And don't give up. Keep trying. Get through those first few weeks.
Pumping isn't the most fun thing, but it is entirely doable. I pumped for nearly a year at work, and when I was done, I was done. It's just another step to making sure your baby gets all the goodness of breastmilk though you are working.
And post here! We are all here to help, support, and guide!
Good luck!!

Thanks so much for the supportive messages. What are some of the things in my diet I need to (probably) eliminate later? Or at least be wary of?
