I stumbled on this article and was amazed at what this ‘kids’ show was really about.

I guess society did its job with me and making me numb to this shows unacceptable content!

I have seen the show a handful of times. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of this show and it is really as bad as the above makes it out to be?

sorry if this has been posted! i am at work and cant do a search...

Yes, I can't abide that show, for all of the reasons listed in that article. And just like the author, I hate feeling like I'm aligning myself with 'horrible uptight PC scolds'. But it is such a shallow, crass show. It's all wrapped up in a neat, Disney bow, and I think this is why it's OK with some parents. The main characters are kids, so that means it's meant for kids to watch!

i love how you say its wrapped up in a Disney bow. i never thought of it that way. and for me Disney was a 'safe' place not any more. how eye opening!

If these same sexually loaded jokes were coming from the mouths of 22 y.o. twin brothers instead of 'tween boys, I really wouldn't think twice about it. But I think that's supposed to be THE joke, the gimmick of the show, that it's funny that this kid chases girls. Precociousness it hi-larious.

However I probably would have let my kids watch this show if it had not been for the laugh track. I wouldn't have noticed it. Laugh track = cheesy garbage.

It's so funny. I've always seen Disney as totally loaded with innuendo and adult-themed jokes. I think most of them go right over children's heads. But when you stop and listen to what they're saying, they're naughty!

Now you'll have to go back and pay attention to some of the older movies with a keener ear.

I haven't read the article yet, but I saw this show once when my niece was over and watching tv and was horrified! I'm no prude, but the whole plotline of the episode was thinking that their dad was cheating on their mom and following him around to see what he was doing with this unknown woman. It was way over the top. I think my niece was 9 at the time. What the heck is she supposed to think about that?!

yeah, its all about picking up girls (or guys, depending on who theyre focusing on ) even when they just started the original series, at the hotel, and the boys are like 10 or something, its all about the girls.... and london and maddy (and now bailey) are all about the guys

can you tell ive watched too much, lol

oh, and i totally agree with disney being loaded with innuendos... well kids movies in general....i mean hello, did anyone watch the scooby do movies?

Since I was in middle school, it's been common knowledge is a dumping ground for some of the worst shows on television, and the stereotype (no offense mommas ) has been that only the most shallow of people watch them.
Hence why I'm not always up on these things. I don't watch much TV; when I do it's typically Food Network or USA.

I blocked the Disney channel.

I don't hate Disney in general but I despise those Tween shows. They are all about kissing, clothes, parties and sneaking out.

They are 17 IRL so I couldn't figure out why people had such an issue with it. Then I found out that it is aimed towards little kids (that didn't occur to me!) and I can kind of see the issue but since they're 16 on the show I think that it explains it more.
Also, Zack gets absolutely nowhere with his crassness and girl chasing and Cody is sweet and smart and has Bailey.

I have to admit, my older DD, who is 7, has watched more episodes of this show than I care to think about. She's also watched Hannah Montana and iCarly. Then she got in trouble on the school bus for singing the "X and Y sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G" song and upsetting someone.

I pay more attention to the content of shows now and don't just assume that particular channels are child friendly. Also, if I'm unsure about a show we'll record it and I preview it after the kids go to bed before deciding whether or not it's appropriate.

Call me naive, but the few times I watched the show I really didn't notice much outside crushes and all. I worked as a family therapist at the time (SAHM now) and when I got home all I wanted to watch was something stupid (work was very intense at times) so usually it was the disney channel. I rarely paid much attention either. However, I was never impressed with Suit Life, the mom annoyed me, as did the kids.

However my general view of the Disney Channel is that they corrupt their actors and actresses. I wouldn't want my kids to watch it either. We don't have cable at the moment so it's not an issue.

But I will clearly state, my mind has an innocent tone to it and even my cousin makes fun of me because I didn't get the "That's what she said" statements on The Office and had to ask her what it meant. LOL!

Okay, just for clarification, this article is talking about the Suite Life On Deck, where they're in high school, not Suite Life of Zack and Cody, where they're middle-schoolers. I do let my son watch the latter and haven't noticed much sexual innuendo, but I admit I haven't been looking for it.
