Is this "normal" hair loss for dogs?

Our lab girl, Peggy, has been shedding alot. (this is our first fall/winter with her). Theres hair everywhere! We furminate but it's still coming out, lol. From what I understand, thats pretty normal this time of year.
What I'm concerned about is this "shorter" hair on her back. It started as a small area closer to her butt, but then the area started to grow out and up towards her head.
Her diet hasnt changed. She's not scratching or seems uncomfortable or anything. She isnt rubbing that spot up against the side of her crate either.

Is this just part of the shedding process? She losses a ton of hair and ends up with a pretty short coat?

TIA!

I had to doublecheck your username to make sure I didn't post this and forget! My black lab/border collie mix is having the exact same problem. It's a small spot on the back of her haunch. It started after we first Furminated. My vet doesn't know what it is. I wonder if I over-furminated that area and injured the hair follicles there. Maybe you could post a pic?

I LOVE the lab personality--and I don't know if it's more the lab or the border collie with our dog, but she sheds SO MUCH. There are tumbleweeds around our house all the time. She has a healthy, glossy coat and is on Canidae. She's always shedded a lot, but has never had a problem area until this spot she has.

Oh I hear you on the labs! Once you go lab you never go back!

You've got me wondering about the furminator now....I wonder if this has something to do with it. It didnt happen after we did it the first time. However, the second time we used the "no rinse" shampoo bottle stuff that came with it, and then this occurred. Did you use that stuff too?

I'll try posting a pic... once I figure it out, lol

Our dog is tiny and sheds a lot too. I sympathize! It's the one thing I struggle to deal with, all the dog hair on everything, it gets overwhelming at times when you like a clean house... I keep saying next time we will get a breed that doesn't shed

Luckily, I'm quite lazy when it comes to a clean house, lol. Which is good considering I also have 3 cats and 4 kids in the home.
