They're ALWAYS hungry!

I can't take it anymore! I can't get anything done because our whole day revolves around food. Breakfast serving, eating, and cleanup. Then in a half hour, they're back in the kitchen for more food, and now we have more eating and cleaning. Then it's lunch. Then they're hungry again.

When we're out running errands, they're always starving. I carry snacks with me (although having to pack snacks to run errands irritates me), but they go through those and always want food when we're out. They eat through the groceries in two days.

I am going to go insane if I have to do this much longer.

Up the calories with higher calorie foods that will sustain them longer. Things like full fat cheese, granola bars, etc. Things with plenty of protein which takes longer to digest than carbs.

Avoid thing that are "light" or "low fat" versions of food. I know this can be hard these days (why is it easy to find low fat organic cream cheese, but virtually impossible to find normal organic cream cheese.

I am pretty sure that is a permanent thing.

Have you tried prepping things ahead of time?

I am moving this to N&GE.

Yup, I feel you. The whole thing with never having the kitchen "closed" or clean... esp becaushe even after the kids are in bed for the night, that's when dh comes home (8 or 9 :irk ) then HE has dinner. Oh, and around 10 a bedtime snack. I often am cleaning up from that before breakfast. Ugh.

How old are yours now? I do feel like it's reasonable to minimize that morning snack thing - or at least have it be something very specific that you could set out right after breakfast, like a banana. And that's it till lunch, end of story. Not in a depriving kind of way, but just like we have other things to do, so kitchen's closed til 11:30 for lunch. Let's go have fun. Sometimes DD1 is more bored than hungry.

yeah, dang kids, always wanting lood! what are they eating/snacking on? i find that higher protein/ fat content foods keep you feeling fuller longer. maybe eggs for breakies, cheese, peanut butter, yogurt etc for snacks? also, oatmeal tends to keep the belly feeling full longer because it has so much soluble fiber. i either do rolled oats like mccanns which take forever to cook, or regular oats- not quick- which take like 5 minutes. sorry you're frustrated! ETA" we all posted at the same time! sorry for repeating!

I agree that they need more fats and protein.

Also, after breakfast I put out a snack tray full of veggies, fruit, meats, cheese etc. and they can graze at will. The tray is refreshed after lunch, so the food is only sitting out for 3 hours at a time...

It definitely cuts down on the prep/mess/clean up!
