teething already??? suggestions for a very young baby?

we've got the symptoms....i think. we have mega-drool, hand chewing, and occasional extra-crankiness. but how do i help such a young baby?

my SIL gives her kids frozen carrots. and i had given one of those munchkin teething nipple-balls to a friend for her 6 month old....but ada is too young to crawl, grasp, etc...on her own. we just barely hit 12 weeks!

how do you help a baby that can't help herself yet?

i'm thinking one of those raz-berry pacifiers but would appreciate other suggestions.

no suggestions here - I'd love to hear as well. We're at almost 12 weeks and the same thing.... my neice started teething at 3months so my sister is telling me that's what lil man's symptoms are. Drooling, hand in mouth, grabbing his ears (I didn't know that was a symptom? he can't grab a toy, but he's picking at his ears... weird). Seems awfully early??!?

Sam has been showing signs of teething since the beginning of Nov. (I only remember this b/c he had a doctors appointment and I asked her about it) She told me that the symptoms can start now (so no I am not crazy)

Sam has been stuffing his fist in his mouth regularly, drooling like a madman, and just this past week he's been in a great mood and then become a huge crank. The other day DH gave him the frozen washcloth I had tucked into the freezer. Sam loved it! i am not sure if that's ok to give him, but I thought I read it somewhere it would help his gums if they were sore.

I also have a Sophie which Sam will happily naw on, but since he's still working on grabbing objects and putting in his mouth I have to help him a bit. I also saw the Hyland's teething tablets while out and bought some to just have rather than wait until it's 2am and need them.

we take a mom and baby class everyweek,. we just went over this. it is probably not actually teething. hand in mouth is the normal developmental thing for this stage. so is the extra drool. fussiness is just fussiness. and she has always played with her ears (mostly when she is tired)
i don't think she is teething at all or even close. i bet yours aren't either (not to diminish what everyone said but i bet we have at least til 6 months when this stuff happens)

I agree with Dosergirl. These are all just developmental things.

I agree too. Sounds like normal development. However, my brother got his first tooth at 4 months, so it can happen. But my LO is doing the same things and so did my older daughter and I swore she was teething, but it was another 7 or 8 months until a tooth popped through.

nak

First dd had her first tooth at 6 weeks. One day a friend was holding her and asked if she was getting teeth because she could see a white spot. I laughed but looked and sure enough, there was a little chiclet! Way early obviously but it can happen!

Second dd hasn't shown any symptoms really at this point and she's 9 weeks old. I'm definitely more aware of it this time though.

my dd had 6 teeth by 6 months that's a lot of gum to cut through and it doesn't happen all at once. the teething would come and go but definitely started by 8 weeks.

Ezra is absolutely teething at 9.5 weeks. i have given him chamomilla a few times with a good response.

I got my first teeth at 3.5 months.

Wow! This isn't even on my radar yet and she's definitely chewing on her hands and drooling more. My other two girls didn't get their teeth until close to their 1st birthday - Grace's were actually just a couple days apart and a couple days before her birthday when they popped through!

Caleb is definitely teething. I'm picking up some Hyland's Teething Tablets for him. I've been giving him Hyland's Colic Tablets, so I know he'll do OK with the teething tablets -- I hold it under his tongue, rubbing it a bit, until it dissolves.

Yep, I have been noticing the same at at my 2 month ped. appt. the Dr said this was just developmental stuff and not real teething. I think we'll know it when the real stuff begins. . .

My DD is going on 10 weeks old and has been drooling a lot the last couple of weeks and puts her fists in her mouth. But she doesn't seem to be teething. Perhaps she is but I really haven't thought about that. I figured it was just her discovering her hands and the drooling happened with my other two children very early on as well and they didn't get a first tooth for quite some time.

Just came back from our pediatrician's office (2 month check-up), and she mentioned BOIRON's Chamilia homeopathic remedy, to help with teething.
