Cuban Lactivism!!

My mother and stepfather returned tonight from a visit to see my stepfather's family in Cuba.

They came home bearing gifts for DS from the Cuban family, one of which was a shirt with a baby on it with a speech bubble saying "Soy feliz, porque cuidan de mi" ("I'm happy because they care for me") and in large letters at the bottom "lactar es amar" (meaning "Breastfeeding is Love") and in smaller letters "lactancia materna exclusiva hasta el cuarto mes" (meaning "exclusive breastfeeding until the fourth month") My stepfather's uncle (the pediatrician that gave us the shirt) said that the shirt is an older shirt and the exclusive breastfeeding recommendation is now 7 months! I'm so happy about this funny shirt!

They also sent me an older book called "manual de lactancia materna" or Breastfeeding Manual. I'm trying to read it but I know extremely little spanish.

Just wanted to share with the only other ladies that might care

I'm a sucker for breastfeeding tees for little ones - I hope your DS wears it proudly!

That's great! Cuba is a very breastfeeding friendly country. Lots of babyfriendly hospitals too.
